Jesus's standard of HOLINESS : is Himself.
This is God, in the Flesh, on the Cross, offering it to Us "by faith".
What's He doing there?
He's providing HIS righteousness to "as many as will BELIEVE", as "the Gift of Righteousness".'
This is God's GRACE.
WE dont do that of ourselves.....as WE are not qualified to even pretend that WE can present our own often carnal lifestyle, as some type of thin transparent foolish self righteous attempt to tell God..>"see, im being holy".
In Genesis, CAIN tried that nonsense, as the "error of Cain" and God kicked Him OUT.
And the fact is, WE are never holy, of ourselves. WE are never good, of ourselves, in God's eyes, because HE is the standard you are up against.. when trying to be holy.
Listen .... We are not capable of ever being even remotely "holy", as comared to God and Christ.
And for us to belong to God, and go to heaven, we have to be MADE EQUAL to God's Holiness.....by God Himself. This is "the gift of Righteousness" that God gives to us when we become born again, that is based on having faith in Christ that is accepted by God.
We cant produce true holiness of ourselves, as we are unable to qualify, because we have already sinned and fallen short.
And so, Beautiful God came here as Christ on the Cross to restore our holiness that we can't produce, so that by this restoration that JESUS SUPPLIED as His SACRIFICE ON THE CROSS, God is able to accept us, and keep us.
This is : SALVATION
This is : The CROSS of CHRIST and the BLOOD ATONEMENT
Its God's GIFT as : John 3:16
