They are smart just lack our ability to communicate in words of our understanding.

Love it.
My cat Music would jump on our screen door and swing hur body backward and forward on the screen so that its door frame would knock against the main frame of the front door.
This sounded just like someone was knocking on the screen door.
When we'd look out the peephole to see who was there she was always at the same level as the peephole so we could see it was her.
As if she knew when we were peeping out,she'd meow only then as if saying,hi let me in please.
Smartest cat I've ever known.
