Far too many Christians and other faiths believe that the dead go to heaven.
This is regardless of how awful the person was.
Ministers and preachers of all denominations promote and maintain this nonsensical idea even when burying or burning the most evil criminals.
The Bible quite clearly says all the dead go into their graves so what do you think and why do you think you go to heaven when you die?

It comes from when everyone was at last nominally 'christian' and because that was believed of everyone, hen what Jesus said to the repentant thief, " today you will be with Me" it is assumed that is true of all Christians.

Jesus didn't go back into heaven until 40 days after his resurrection, right. So how was this man with Jesus in paradise on the very day of their deaths.

The honest answer is I don't know.
A speculative answer could be that because Jesus was God once he had been raised to life or even once he had died he would be with God the Father in heaven and the thief would also be with them. Alternatively if Jesus was not n heaven the their could be with God the Father, as Jesus is one with the Father , seeing Jesus you have seen the Father etc etc that would count as being with Jesus in heaven.

How are "the dead in Christ" going to rise if they are already there in Heaven?
It's Spiritual, no ones flesh body is going to rise at all.
All the Ones before us Spirit, will be as one with the truly faithful in Christ Jesus a that time.

Try think this through: Jesus went into his grave for three days. So how could he rendezvous with the thief the same day? And he also said to Mary not to touch him because he had not yet gone to heaven?
You have Bibles and can read yet your eyes are dimmed and ears are blocked to what you read and hear.
The dead flying off to heaven is your friend Satan's Babylonian lie.

Jesus was never GOD and GOD was never Jesus.
The message of the thief is that believing Jesus is the son of GOD washes away all sins and guarantees being resurrected to life on Earth in the Kingdom of Heaven.
And I'll stall any further argument bys saying that continued sinning after seeing the truth leads to damnation so all Catholics repeat sinners who think the preists has pardoned them are in for a shock.

Nope. You are wrong. The dead will be raised as unsinnable but will live with a brand new body that gets ever younger every day on the good foods, pure waters and clean air of Paradise Earth ruled by Jesus and that 144,000.
Read your Bible.

Paradise is not Heaven you know.
Bible points out that Adam and Eve were in Paradise, as to Gods order and then they got kicked out you know.
But old mate he had faith in that Jesus was the Christ, so his spirit was at home with God and not with that of Satan, the other dude was corrupted of Satan.

Jesus Christ is the King of Israel and such is the Kingdom of God, such is Paradise, it's hear on earth. that's what a true Christian strives for others to come into, because such a one loves his fellow Man and hopes for such a one to come and enter. that's what being born again is all about, you serve the Lord because he is your Saviour and you abide in the Vine and he will in you bear much fruit and that is true Israel ! that Nathaniel truly was.

Read your Bible.
Better study it than just read it, and you may grasp the reality of truth.

No one comes back to life at all, it is appointed to Man to live once the Bible says in fact.

Belafonte, your potty mouth ravings and distorted doctrines shows you need to do some soul and Bible searching.
All the rapturees will never die and the dead in Christ will be raised and not see the second death. They will get new bodies - because as Jesus said 'every hair on our heads is numbered' which was his pre-science way of stating that our DNA determines how thick our hair grows and GOD's Book of Life keeps record of us.
You will see the second death because you call GOD and Jesus liars, teach Satan's lies, do not know the Bible, and refuse its teachings.
You lack any gift of holy spirit as listed in1 Corinthians 12.

Read your Bible.

A distinction here should be made between the dead in Christ who are raised incorruptible and the rest of the dead of mankind not yet reconciled with God.

The dead of the world will still be susceptible to sin and to failures in the kingdom, but they will be under the New Covenant arrangement and the Mediator at the time and will receive corrective measures (stripes) for these failures many of which will be unintentional , but accountable to the fall. They will all be given ample time to be raised back up, up to the original perfection which was lost in Adam, but now with the added experience of the lessons of sin and its consequences and the new lessons of righteousness taught during that time, and with the added benefit of all the stumbling blocks taken out of the way (the lures and enticements of this evil world) they will be better prepared to walk up the highway of holiness better prepared to pass the final test at the end of that age.

Of course the scriptures do speak of some, the incorrigible who will not comply with the standards then in place, such will at 100 years of age die (the second death) as if infants in that kingdom. (Isa 65:20)

What? Jesus was and is God! That's the whole basis of the gospel.
To be absent from the body is to be present with God, for one who trusts in him for salvation.

The Bible quite clearly says all the dead go into their graves so what do you think and why do you think you go to heaven when you die?
All those who are deemed righteous by God do indeed go to Heaven. Soul Sleep is a false doctrine.

Only those who are children of God when they die go to Heaven. The Hebrew word Sheol was mistranslated as "grave". Sheol/Hades is the place of departed souls and spirits in "the heart of the earth" (near the core of the earth or "the lower parts of the earth"). So the bodies of the Old Testament saints went into their graves, while their souls and spirits went to Sheol/Hades.

After Christ was crucified, His body was placed in the tomb, but His soul and spirit went to Sheol/Hades for three days and three nights.
For thou wilt not leave my soul in SHEOL; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.(Psalm 16:10)

This prophecy about Christ was written about 1,000 years before His death to confirm that His soul would not be left in Sheol, and He would be resurrected so that His body would not see corruption. This is exactly what Peter preached on the day of Pentecost.

Because thou wilt not leave my soul in HADES, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption... He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither his flesh did see corruption. (Acts 2:27,31).
[Those words in caps were mistranslated as "hell" which has led to a lot of confusion.]

While in Sheol/Hades Christ "preached to the spirits in prison" by proclaiming His victory at the Cross. But after the resurrection of Christ all the souls and spirits of the saints in Sheol were taken to Heaven. More precisely to Paradise (which is in the New Jerusalem, which is in Heaven). Study Hebrews 11 and 12 to understand where these saints are.

However, following the resurrection of Christ, all believers go directly to Heaven to be with the Lord. They do not go to Sheol/Hades as do the unrighteous dead. This is clear from the death of Stephen and other passages.

not sure the question “why do think you go to Heaven when you die”? The kingdom of God is within? As far as none have gone up which have not come down from above? He said except one be born again (from above) they can never see the kingdom of God. Born again from above, implies born (come down) from above, whatsoever is born of the God as every good gift coming down (given) of the Father.

All are raised up the last day, some to everlasting life and some to everlasting contempt. Which does not mean "all go to heaven", but rather all loose their physical and fleshly selves and are raised up in the spirit, which is life to some, but death to others.

Most struggle and are confused with the timing of "that day", that day of "which no one knows but the Father." But of that day, we need not be ignorant, for there is only one day after being born that no one knows--therefore, He has told us without giving us the actual day. It is the day we die. That is the timing. Therefore, He told the thief on the cross, "Today you will be with me in paradise." I will say it again: That is the day which is coming which no one knows, but we do know that it does come to all who are born of water, which is the flesh.

This is our lot, our moment in time, our hour of decision. But when that day comes, time is no longer; and because it is no longer, all things are eternal. Which is to say that with our own life and times we each come into the world ("each in his own order"), and likewise we also leave. But from the world into eternity, because it is eternity, we all arrive together...which, if we are His, we do in Christ Jesus.

The dead of the world will be raised to Judgment and many will be passed acceptable but after Judgmnet Day Satan and his gang of angels will be once more released for a short season to try once agin to pervert and gain followers but Jesus will strike quickly to destroy all those compleetly while Satan gets to trip into the lake of fire.
Satan's earthly spokesman the pope has a throne showing Satan and gang rising from the pit for their short season complete with a reptile's head subliminaly made in the hair.
Also the main audience building is designed to look like snake:

Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

John 5:24-25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. [25] Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. (And come alive).

GOD said Jesus is His son
Jesus said GOD is his father.
I think both GOD and Jesus know the correct state of affairs.
