What happened to the old Church preaching holiness, salvation in Jesus alone and being filled and indwelt with the Holy Spirit! I grew up and currently belong to a Pentecostal-holiness church and they have changed a little over the years. We do not have tarrying services and there a only a few of those house prayer meetings. You couldn't preach or serve in the church if your spirit was not right. Church mothers would prayer at the altar before service and charge the atmospehre. Preacher would preach a firey message not caring who was offended but did it out of love. When they woulkd call of alatar calls and drunks, addicts and demon possessed people where set free and delivered at the altar or we did not leave until they were. The church associate ministers anointed the building before and after service. Ushers were charming and kind. Everyone was on one accord and of the Holy Spirit. When they separated you from your friends and make you tarry at the altar and call on Jesus until you got delivered and filled with the Holy Spirit. They know if you faked and they would make you stay there. The choirs would sing and be caught up! When you would get all dressed up and place a crease in your pants and come out of service messed up and drunk with the Holy Ghost. People would have to drive you home and carry you out the church. The love and fellowship among the saints was strong. Stayed in church all day and night! When Holy Convocation or YPHA (Young Peoples' Holy Association) Convention came you were in chruch all week. I appreciate the changes made for the bettering of the saints but I wish that same fire and vigor for Jesus and the Holy Spirit was rekindled.
