    OSAS.

Its better not to give opinions on this term.... so, let me show you what it actually means and why.

First, lets see what the Devil has done..
Because, if we can see this, then we can escape the corrupted idea that is used by the deceived to wrongly define this term :OSAS.

See, the issue is not the term OSAS.......its with the people who are deceived into the wrong idea, regarding its actual and true meaning.

    Now Think !

    Who saved you?
    What saved you?
    How are you saved?
    How are you kept saved?

There is only one answer to these questions, and the answer is.....The Blood of Jesus.
ITs the Blood of Jesus that God uses to redeem you.
Its the Blood of Jesus that takes care of all your sin, including tomorrows works of the flesh that you'll commit.
Its ONLY the Blood of Jesus that IS the reason that God will take you and keep you.
Its the spiritual and literal application of the Blood of Jesus that IS the ONLY reason you'll end up in heaven, or not.

So, how are you saved? ???
You are saved BY the Blood of Jesus, through the Holy Spirit.
"Jesus having offered his BLOOD, once, entered into the Holy Place".
This same God manifested in the flesh Jesus, who has shed his Blood, is now "making intercession" for you in heaven, if you are born again.
Jesus's BLOOD is your eternal pardon and your eternal intercession.
The BLood of Jesus that was shed 2000+ yrs ago, is saving you TOMORROW and next year.
"What can wash away my SIN". A.) Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.

Before you were born again....What was keeping you from being accepted by God?
    A.) your SIN.

Q.) What has paid for all your sin? A.) The Blood of Jesus.

Final analysis,= you are saved by the Blood, keep saved by the Blood, and its the Blood Atonement that is your Salvation.

Jesus said......this is my BODY i give for you....And at some point you'll get a new one that is Just like His Eternal Body.
Jesus said...This is my blood that is shed for you....And that BLOOD is WHY you'll get a new body. That BLood is why you belong to God if you are born again.
That BLOOD is why you are KEPT by God if you are born again.
    A.) No other reason.

    Commandments are not your salvation.
The cult of mary is not your salvation.
THe baptist, methodist, assembly of God, or your church membership is not why God will take you and keep you.
Being dunked or sprinkled in or by the city water supply is NOT your salvation.
    What is your Salvation?
    A.) THE BLOOD OF JESUS.
Without the shedding of God's Blood, (Jesus) there IS NO Salvation.

So, how many times is this Blood applied to you?
It's applied to you once. = When you are born again.
You are "new birthed" BY this Blood, through the Holy Spirit.
    How many times?
    A.) ONCE.
So, how many times are you saved? = ONCE.
You are saved exactly as many times as you are born again.
    You are born again, ONCE.

Now, how does the devil try to confuse this reality.??
Well, what he did, was.....what he does is.......he created the lie that the Grace of God, is being taught as a lie, if God is being given all the Credit for Salvation.
Let me try that one again, as i can hear the brain cells spinning in the distance..

The devil's Gospel is = anti- saved - once.
The devil's Gospel is = anti- God did it, and you get it for free.
the devil's Gospel is anti- ....= anything that does not allow you to try to keep yourself saved by yourself, by your works, by your water, by your LIST.

    Understand?

So, God's Grace, is anti- what Satan teaches through his deceived as salvation.
The devil's gospel is..... "god started it, but you finish it".
The devil's gospel is... "keep yourself saved by self effort".

So, that is exactly the opposite of God's salvation.

Now look at this term. OSAS.

OSAS, literally mean, once you are born again, you are always born again.
    That's what it mean's literally.

ONCE Jesus saved you with his Blood, you are kept saved always BY the same Blood.

See how OSAS is teaching that Salvation is all of God, based only on Jesus and His Blood, and has nothing to do with the devil's gospel of "self saving" and "keeping yourself saved" ???

OSAS, simple means....."once you are born again, you are always born again".
OSAS, simple means....."once you are born again, you are always born again".
OSAS, simple means....."once you are born again, you are always born again".
OSAS, simple means....."once you are born again, you are always born again".

The devil disputes this, and his deceived dispute this.... because he bases his deceived idea of salvation on you trying to keep your salvation, or you trying to earn it. And that is what the devil's deceived teach.

Whereas God's salvation is always, a "GIFT". "The Gift of Salvation".. "The GIFT of Righteousness".
"As many as Received Jesus.....God GAVE GAVE GAVE".
"For God so loved the world that He GAVE GAVE GAVE".
    THAT is Salvation.
    its GOD GIVING IT.
    THAT IS OSAS.

    Now finally...

What the devil has his people do, is confront God's Grace, challenge it, dispute it, and mock it...... and try to subvert it with the idea that God's Grace, when taught as a GIFT, is..."License to sin, or Cheap Grace, or easy believism".
That's the Devil's lie, and his liars are all over forums, all over pulpits, and all over the world.
They are "fallen from Grace" and they are enemies of the Cross.
So.....we see the error of the deception.....or as Paul and Jude taught...These liars, these devil deceived, try to replace the Grace and "Gift of God", with the idea that this Gift is a "license to sin", if you teach it correctly....which is to teach that God's Salvation is all of God, given as a gift, and God will keep you, by His power, and His Grace, once you are born again.

That's how the devil views it, and that is how his deceived will also teach it.
They will always teach that Grace is "License to sin", that Salvation is all about you doing something, vs, God having done something for you, as a GIFT.
    And this GIFT, is OSAS.
Its, once you are born again, you are always born again.

    What about backsliders?

If you believe in OSAS, do you believe that God eventually draws all backsliders back to Him in these New Covenant times?

I mean it can and does definitely happen.

Whether if it's all or some, that's the question I want to ask you.

    Hi Josho,

A lot here depends on how you understand our justification and reconciliation. If we are in fact made new, then what you would call backsliding is more falling back into old patterns and habits of thought, and not about becoming the dead person again.

We are made a new person, but now we are to renew our minds, that is, come to think about God and life and ourselves according to the new Way.

    Much love!

Actually, the blood of Jesus is continually applied to us as we walk in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7).

Indeed...and the blood of Jesus does not only justify (as per Romans 5:9)...it also sanctifies (Hebrews 13:12, Hebrews 10:29) and cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

So there is going to be a continued practical holiness in the lives of all those who are truly redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

Yes; He will keep you sanctified through the blood of Jesus; as you abide in Christ (see 1 John 3:6, 1 John 2:17)...if you are truly born again, you will continue in His goodness (see Romans 11:20-22).

And, being born again means that you have left a lifestyle of sinning, so that (whether it is hyperbole or not), you "cannot sin" (1 John 3:9). That also is a teaching that once you are born again, you are always born again...once you have truly repented, you cannot repent of your repentance (see 2 Corinthians 7:10).

It is a "license to sin" if you teach it incorrectly.

If you teach grace correctly, it is not a license to sin...

It teaches you to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.

The first statement and your understanding of 1 John 1:7 is misleading and confusing. The blood of Christ is ONE act performed on the cross that cleanses us from ALL or from EVERY sin. It is done! We don't need Christ to spill more blood to us as believers, whilst we are in, or even attempting to be in fellowship with him. That idea does not even sound logical or plausible anyway.

As Christ is in the Father and the Father in him, to be in fellowship with Christ we must approach the light in purity and all sins must be confessed.

Being in the light as this verse speaks to, or walking in the light is all about fellowship with the Lord as it clearly says, even in the two previous verses of 5 and 6 that introduces this concept. The Lord does continually supply 'more' blood so to speak while we are in the light and in fellowship or in the process of coming and staying in the light. What is the function of the already spilt blood of Christ to a believer that is different to a believer in the light or not? It has already guaranteed us we are holy in the sight of the Father, whether we are out of the light or not.

Verse 7b is actually the intro and attached to verse 8 and on. In Verse 8 it continues on with the theme of sin and to be in fellowship with Christ all the time, in the light, we must confess our sins ......

    Just saying....

You have not realized that your question is actually stating this...

"As long as i dont backslide, i get to go to heaven".
So, do you see the problem this person has with their faith?
The problem is, "don't backslide" has become what this person believes will keep them saved.

What does it mean to not backslide?
It means that you have by self effort, not done it.
    What if you do?
Well, backsliding, is one more carnal deed, that some call a sin, that was dealt with 2000 yrs ago.
What sin has Christ's blood not paid for already?

Backsliding, has nothing to do with your born again Spirit.
Backsliding has no effect on your position "in Christ".

Backsliding is one of those things that is on a Legalist's "if id dont do this, i keep MYSELF SAVED"...List.
Every Legalist has a list of "do's and don't do's" that is their faith"....They have faith in this list. They have faith that if they themselves by their effort, do these things or don't do these things, on their LIST, then they KEEP THEMSELVES, Saved.
    = That is self saving.
= that is loss of faith in Christ.
    That is Legalism.

See that? Thats "self saving". That's Legalism.
Thats putting the responsibility on yourself for your salvation, to be your own savior, and the worst part,.... is that this person is taking credit away from the blood of Jesus, when they become someone whose faith is...>"if i dont do this", or "if i always do this"....then i keep myself saved.
    = This omits Jesus.
He is no longer in their Faith.
He is replaced by the LIST.

    So, that's the answer.

    Hi @APAK,

I believe that you have failed to look at the Greek verb tense in 1 John 1:7. it can be effectively translated, "and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son continually cleanseth us from all sin."

    Hope this helps.

The backslider may indeed be saved on his day of judgment (if he succeeds at avoiding the mark); however, Jesus is returning for a glorious church, having neither spot nor wrinkle nor any such thing but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27).

Those who have not been thus sanctified will be left behind when Jesus returns for His church.

Their salvation from that point will hinge upon whether or not they will be willing to starve to death in order to avoid the mark of the beast.

How much better to let Jesus sanctify you by His Spirit while you are living now, in the church age!

OSAS, is simply the reality that Once you are born again, you are always born again.

So, can you be "unborn again"?
There is no verse in the NT that even suggests this..

A newbie believer will read....>"abide in the vine"....and they then wrongly conclude that if you dont, you are separated from God and damned.

Well, this is what happens when newbie believers, read a symbolic verse and they wrongly conclude its Literal.
This is the #1 way to ruin your own faith, as you have wrongly divided the word and when you do that, you pay a price in your head that will harm your faith.

    i teach it like this....
Once we become "ONE" with God and Christ.....and we are now "IN CHRIST"..
    Something interesting has happened.
    Its this..
God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, are all in us.
Christ is God. So, "Christ is you, the hope of Glory" is God in you your Hope of Glory.
We are their domain, their place of eternal residency.
If you die, you will come out of the Grave, if you are born again.
    Why?
Because Jesus, who is the RESURRECTiON.....>He IS The Resurrection, will resurrect you. And why? Because He's IN YOU to Stay.
And this can't be changed by our behavior, or a bad mood, or being angry with God because your Kid died, or because your wife or husband was unfaithful, or whatever reason you have that makes you really hate God..........yet, you are born again.

See, the Legalist, has a self righteousness issue. They are always trying to make and keep themselves RIGHT with God.
"Self Righteousness" is....trying by SELF.....EFFORT........to keep yourself right with God, or in the case of an unbeliever, to make yourself right with God.

Someone who has "fallen from Grace"... Has fallen away from Grace, within their faith...within their understanding.
God has not changed....His Grace is the same....but the person has mentally departed from Right Believing.
To "fall from Grace" is not to lose your salvation, but it means that you have mentally descended from Grace BACK into the "flesh" as Paul teaches..= or the carnal mind, regarding your faith becoming Legalistic.
You have become a self savor.
You are now on the Cross, trying to keep yourself saved, and Jesus has been ripped off the Nails by your WRONG BELIEVING.

    This is the Legalist.

If you are trying to teach that a born again Son of God, who is not walking the walk, or who has become intwined with this world, is no longer saved, then you are teaching that God's Salvation is only as good as the person.
That's heresy, and its offends the Cross.
    Dont teach that.
Teach that God's Blood, is Eternal Salvation once applied.
Never teach that God's Blood is only as good as you are..... as when you do that, you are teaching that you are your own savior, and that offends the Holy Spirit.

You can die spiritually (James 1:14-16).

That is not a wrong conclusion (John 15:6).

If anyone hates God, they do not have eternal life abiding in them (1 John 3;14, 1 John 4:20).

Rom 12:1, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

The problem with a living sacrifice is that it has a tendency to crawl off the altar.

Psa 118:27, God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

The Bible teaches that (Romans 11:20-22).

Good question. What does OSAS mean? It appears to be an acronym for something. Maybe, Over Sized Apple Syndrome? Or, Of States Around Syria? Or, Our Sure Assisted Support? I really don't know. I hate acronyms, it's like using jargon that only the insiders know. Did you mean ISIS? That I know. LOL

You can't die spiritually, unless God and Christ who are "ONE" with your born again Spirit, can also die.
It seems that your self saving theology has gotten a lot worse since we last spoke about it.
What happened to you that has caused you to become completely engulfed with the idea that you have to save yourself?
You were not this far off the Cross the last time i read you.
    Sad.

OSAS, is a term that was created by the devil, though a devout legalist who hates Grace, and who love self righteousness.
The term is created to create confusion, and allow self righteous people to rant on forums and from pulpits, hoping to ruin the REAL faith of anyone they can deceive.

THe Devil does not believe that you are "always saved" because the Devil is devoted to the gospel of works.
So, he blinds the minds of people, of believers, so that they become inundated with the belief that they can lose their salvation.
And that is because their faith, is not in Christ to keep them saved.
Its in themselves, to try to keep themselves saved...and as they know they have already fallen and sinned since they were saved, they now live in a mentally darkened place of trying to keep themselves saved, yet, they know they have already committed many carnal deeds since they were saved.
So, that life-raft is a total fail.

Real Believers, who believe right, understand that God saved you, and God keeps you saved the same way He saved you.
    This is NONE OF YOU.
Its ALL OF CHRIST and His Blood, Death and Resurrection.

When you dont believe this, you then run to your self effort cross, and hang on it in public.

Yes, I agree we can never lose salvation. And yes, a type legalist does want to tinker and help his or her salvation 'along'....very futile, indeed.
In the most part I agree with your words you have said here. I'm just not a trinitarian. I believe God, the Father's spirit, is the Holy Spirit. And then there is his Son, Christ.

    Thanks

Well yes, when you put it that way, and it's different from what you said previously. Yes, he continually cleanses us indeed. Although, not just being in the light , in fellowship. Even out of fellowship with Christ, at times! It is not dependent on our actions, at all. He shed his blood once, as the perfect sacrifice.

    Thanks

OSAS ("Once Saved Always Saved") is a terminology that takes Calvin's original preaching out of context.

Calvin did not teach that if you go forward at a crusade or in church and live like hell afterwards, that you continue to be saved.

His actual teaching was POTS ("Perseverance Of The Saints").

This is a teaching that when you are born again, you become a saint (1 John 3:9, Hebrews 10:14 (kjv), 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (kjv); 1 John 3:7, 1 John 3:3, 1 John 2:6; Jude 1:24, 2 Peter 1:10, 1 John 2:10; 1 John 3:6, 1 John 2:17) and that if you are truly saved you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit so that you will continue to be a saint as those verses define sainthood.

It is dependent on our continuing to be transparent before the Lord (our not hiding from God, as Adam and Eve did in the garden).
