1 Corinthians 4:16,
Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

1 Corinthians 11:1
Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

I dont know that we have grasped the full meaning of Paul's statements such as; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. We don't get in the scriptures where Paul gives us his daily out working of his Christian life. He doesn't give an autobiography per say on his life. So he uses those statements to explain how a Christian can live a life in this world whether it's going good or bad at the time. I often wondered why Paul didn't give a more clear picture of how to live and one day the Spirit revealed that the way each believer was to live their Christian life was according to their creation.

Now that is hard for some to grasp because all they see is the no good that came from the first Adam, and they cannot see their now affiliation with the second Adam as born again believers. When I did some outreach ministry, I noticed something about how human beings process sin or look at it once they achieve some victory. The worse people to judge other people were the abusers and drug addicts, you would have thought they had never committed a sin in their life to hear them tell it and were quick to judge others for their problems. In their defence most did grow out of that, but I thought it was very ironical to see that seeing how they had been to the bottom of the barrow and now set themselves up to judge others.

So Paul could only use statements like; follow me as I follow Christ. Why? Because if you follow Paul in the scriptures you find out Christ lives through you. You are not going to live like Paul or Jesus of Nazareth or anyone else, you will live according to your creation, Christ expressed as you. Your unique individualism coming forth as God designed. The only thing stopping that you know is your religion, but that is another story. So if you read Paul you will read how to express yourself as a Christian. You are not a-anything above that, you may do things from that like go to church, read your bible, pray, fast, give, witness, reach the world, and the things we do as Christians, but that is not what makes you a Christian.

What makes you a Christian, a Christ-person, a Christ-ian, IS Christ in you the hope of glory. Follow Paul in the scriptures and find out all about it. If a believer is hungry enough to stay with Paul until they know something, they should not bounce around in the scriptures. Stay put until Christ be formed in you "like paul says." If you bounch around it will take that much longer for you to grasp what Paul is saying.

No true Christian follows the man Apostle Paul as he was only giving an expression in those verses you quote; we follow The Gospel of Jesus Christ as Apostle Paul preached. Paul wasn't preaching to be followers of him literally, but followers of The Gospel which He and the other Apostles preached. Lot of Christian brethren need to get more educated and learn when an expression is being given in God's Word, even by Apostle Paul.

To follow Paul is to follow the gospel, Acts 28:28. What gospel are you talking about?

2 Peter 3.17 came to mind also: "...grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ".

1 Cor 1:11-15
11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, 'I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.'

13 Is Christ divided?
was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
KJV

If Paul were here today seeing your question, he'd no doubt ask you the same thing, if you were baptized in the name of Paul.

All Christ's Apostles, including Apostle Paul, preached the SAME Gospel of Jesus Christ. So I hope you're not trying to go into all that false Hyper-Dispensationalist stuff from John Darby and E.W. Bullinger.
