    Have you experienced it?
    Have you tested it?
    Has it changed your life?

I always go by scripture and make my call according to that. No vibes allowed.

So God is limited to the scriptures? Seems to me, God is not limited to simply words in a book.....

You cannot trust anything that claims to be God speaking. Scripture thoroughly equips us.

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:15–17)

Sure....personal revelation should never contradict scripture - i get that. But...
God often speaks to us personally - information that applies to our lives - never meant to be taught to others

He convicts us of sin. And rewards us with joy when we make the right call. But he is not an on board GPS telling you to turn right at the next corner.

Yes indeed...He is our Father and He talks to us, and we hear Him.
I would go into panic and wonder why if I never heard from Him.

There is something broken with the connection if we don't!!
The scriptures are clear on that. :)

John 8.47 "He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God."

John 10.27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"

There is a moment by moment walk in the keeping power of God.

Most people will speak of being directed by the Spirit...like hearing a still small voice from within. This is quite common. This is being led by the Spirit...whereby we check in with God from time to time.

What is far less common is to actually walk in the dimension of the Spirit where one SEES into the spiritual realm. That is what I meant by the keeping power of God. Once you are in it is like being a magnet on a fridge. If you let the cares of this world take your focus away from keeping this world slightly out of focus it is like adding papers between the magnet and the fridge so that the keeping power diminishes until you "fall out" of the Spirit.

This requires of the touch of clarification.

Yes, God does personal revelation, but it does not add anything ever to the bible.

That makes it more complicated by introducing misunderstanding into the discussion.

I started this conversation. The Bible reigns in revelation of all sorts. Private revelation applies to individuals and their situations. Public revelation either clarifies scripture or must be rejected. Nothing complicated a out either

While God obviously cannot be limited in any way, He has given us His written Word to reveal Himself and His Christ to mankind and to His children, and to be the basis upon which we govern our thoughts and ourselves. Mysticism is NOT the norm, and can often be misleading.

I would go a bit further...

I mean - that's the point. God goes so far beyond the written word, "I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written."

Of course it is advisable to hold the scriptures as an anchor, but they are little more than world-bound nonsense without their greater unseen spiritual counterpart - only the tip of that greater iceberg known as the kingdom of God. For this reason the apostle Paul (the apostle appointed to these times of the gentiles, when God promised to pour out His spirit upon all flesh) also preached "leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come"...considered it all as "elementary."

Therefore, I hope to leave it all behind daily, and often do.

How do we do this? Do what love would do, and we've heard God's voice far deeper than words can convey.

As the second person of the Trinity limited himself to living as an human God can put self imposed rules and limits on himself.

As with our freewill. He wants all to be saved but will not stop us from self condemnation.
