Peter said.......REPENT........In Acts 2:38

And that is not like OLD TESTAMENT repentance.....and you have to SEE THIS, before you can begin to understand the NT, where it explains "The Gospel of Grace.""

In the OT, you repented of sin., and John the Baptist, dunked you.
You had a Priest offering a sacrifice of a living animal.
ALL before the CROSS, you had that stuff going on in OLD TESTAMENT, in progress, even tho Jesus was finally here.

God was about to MAKE A CHANGE..

So, Not Jesus but His disciples were dunking according to the Jewish OT custom of repenting from sin.
Jesus is the Living water, who is about to bring in the New Testament, so He's not going to be dunking anyone.

Now you have the Cross, and the Blood of Jesus and a New Testament and a NEW Covenant...
You are now in the NEW COVENANT "TIME OF THE GENTILES'" and this is different, as now you are repenting from UNBELIEF.
THat's how you REPENT in Acts 2, and also in '2122, should Jesus tarry.
Read Acts 2:34-37......and notice what Peter is preaching....."you have killed your messiah"....and the Jews said...."what shall we do".
See that?
Those 3000 are not repenting of sin.... they are repenting from UNBELIEF that "killed their messiah".
Understand?

So, when those 3000 Jews repented of their unbelief, then God accepted their faith in Christ to give them the new birth, = born again.
Following that, they were put in the water.

If you read Acts 8. You see the same again, explained better.
If you study all the ACTS of the Apostles, you find this over and over.
"they BELIEVED" .....and then they were dunked.
To believe is to turn from UNBELIEF to CHRIST by FAITH = New Testament REPENTANCE.
Acts 8= Phillip and the Eunuch.......Phillip tells the Eunuch, .."if you have BELIEVED with all your HEART"........= you can now get in the water.

See that? THat is REPENTING in Acts 2.
And that repenting is to turn from unbelief to faith in Christ, and once you do that, you have REPENTED of your unbelief, and just like the 3000 God accepts this Faith, and gives you the new birth.....and then you can go get dunked.

Water follows SALVATION, it does not cause it, and it is not required as a part of it.
The Blood of Jesus, offered as the Grace of God, is John 3:16.
No water in that verse.
Read it.
