We can make a lot of claims in Christianity - but that catch is; you cannot possess anything you don't know. A believer must know in order to possess what it is they claim. Christianity is not a contest - it is not a "see who is the smartest in scripture." These forums should prove that out as we try to give our understanding in God. We stand on what we know - people will die for what they believe, at least use to. It used to be - daddy is a 'whatever religion' momma was a 'whatever religion' and I'll die one too. That was the thinking - the thinking seems to have changed some in my opinion, because people are more free thinking and open it seems to me - just an observation - neither here nor there.
I look at the times and the evil - but I look at scripture and know when evil rears an ugly head - grace doeth much more abound. So we live in a great time for Holyspirit teaching - revelation knowledge - possess it, he is there to lead you - take advantage of the times. Glory!
Possessing the land so to say is a old testament idea - Israel was instructed to go in and possess the land, taking it by force from an enemy that possessed a land that is promised . That enemy in our case as born again believers is; the mind. Your mind will withstand you all the days of your life (unrenewed). You can renew it and that makes all the difference in the world to a believer - but it is still your mind and will be a contender in your life because there will always be areas in the mind that are not renewed or still being renewed.
So possessing land is done in the mind - it is a mind thing and the mind needs to be open. Lydia in the book of Acts had an open heart scripture says. A Lydia heart will go along ways because the mind is always an opponent to the things of God. Why is it we will resist the Holyspirit? my mind. We fuss and fight the Holyspirit because he is leading us into foreign territory - unexplored territory is in my mind and my mind will flinch. Our mind will not just jump and run to the things of God - not when you have things fixed in you - and alot of what you have the Holyspirit gave to you too get you where you are and now he is moving you on and wow doctor the fight begins. The mind is not a surrenderer by creation - it is designed to withstand a battle.
The simplest way to handle a mind when you are being led is; whatever you know - put it on a shelf. You have to because you have things in you that were given to you by the Holyspirit - and you have things that you just dreamed up somewhere. So the easiest way to get things going and get renewed is; put your understanding on a shelf and be taught purely by the Spirit. Start fresh- start new.
It is like you are standing at the entrance to the promised land contemplating going in. You have to go in - we are given that promised land scripture says. Be renewed in mind so you know - and the only way to know is yield your members - mind is a member. Yield your members and be led. Stop with the unruly doctrines you have placed in your mind and be renewed in mind. Allow for the Spirit to teach you new things and to keep leading you. One last thing - whatever the mind knows it thinks "that is all there is to know." So if you think you know it all then you are a perfect candidate for possessing a land you not of. Bless you.
