Through faith only demonstrates His righteousness.

Rom 3:25-26
25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
NKJV

Note: what time?? The present because Jesus has NOW paid for all those sins.

Heb 2:17-18
17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.
NKJV

1 John 2:1-2
2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
NKJV

1 John 4:9-11
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
NKJV

I will quote from the King James Bible for clarity:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood...to make reconciliation (propitiation) for the sins of the people...And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world...Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

There are many Christians who have not fully grasped the significance of this term -- propitiation -- and therefore continue to believe that they can contribute something to their salvation.

But throughout Scripture God is telling us that it is the Lord Jesus Christ -- the Lamb of God -- who made full atonement for our sins and presented a SATISFACTORY SACRIFICE to God when He died on the Cross. That sacrifice, and particularly that blood which He shed, was the full payment for the sins of the whole world.

"Through faith in His blood" is what God requires of every sinner and every saint. It is the blood of Jesus Christ which (1) initially cleanses us from all our sins and guilt and (2) keeps on cleansing us as we confess and repent of our present sins.

If Jesus made a full payment for the sins of the whole world, why do so many perish?

Because they fail to obey the Gospel.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent (Acts 17:30)

Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith... (Rom 16:25,26)

And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 20:20,21)

The way I understand is that the whole world = gentiles and Jews according to Abraham's promise. Where before salvation was just for the Jews. But not every single person per se. All in the flood perished. All beyond Israel perished, etc.

Because now is not the time for the conversion of the world (See Mark 4:11-12), the Lord is only dealing with the Church at this time.

Acts 15:14-17 reveals that God is now visiting “the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name [not to convert all]… After this I will return and build again the tabernacle of David [set up the kingdom of God]...that the remainder of men might seek after the Lord and all the Gentiles...

"Jesus Christ is the propitiation (satisfaction) for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for (the sins of) the whole world". (1 John 2:2) It is impossible to state the doctrine of a universal atonement more clearly in so few words.

But less any misunderstand there is a difference between “universal atonement” and “universal salvation”, the first is a biblically sound doctrine while the second as taught by Universalist is unscriptural. In the next age mankind having been saved from the original condemnation which was upon them (Adamic sin) will then be brought to the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:4), then it will be up to each individual as to whether or not they should chose life and live, that is to comply with the rules of the kingdom or to suffer eternal destruction.

During this time, which the scriptures designate as “the times of restitution of all things”, the great prophet (the Christ, our Lord and the Church glorified) will take control of earthly affairs and begin the work of restoration, of restoring all that was lost through father Adam’s sin.

"A Prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me. Him shall ye hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people." Acts 3:19-23

As Moses was the representative of all the people of Israel, so Christ the greater prophet is to be the representative of God to "all the people," the entire world of mankind.

The only ones who can fail obeying the gospel are they to whom it has been committed. To whom much is given MORE is required.

But a universal atonement doesn't save anyone. If it paid for everyone's sin, all would be saved. I think in this case "world" refers to Jews and Gentiles alike. And even then, most still perish.

Ah! but it did save everyone, it saved everyone from the original Adamic curse which fell upon us all due to Adam's sin, thus providing everyone with an opportunity, an individual opportunity to be saved everlastingly. Some are being given this opportunity now during the Gospel age, that is those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, and the rest although blind at this time will be brought to the light (the truth) in the next age.

It is because you appear to have only half the gospel (that is you don't believe in the two phases of the kingdom, the "two salvation's") that you are having difficulty seeing these things.

Because of """unbelief""". If a person does not belief Jesus has paid for his/her sins then they are just as Eve in the garden. They do not believe what God has said about His Son and therefore are in a state of unbelief.

This is vain religious babble of course. The Mafia believe that Jesus paid for their sins.

Believing that Jesus did something good....doesn't change what you are...unless you do something about it. But the devil convinces many that to do anything = works.

So these get intimidated by the devil into doing nothing....and remain in the mafia. The religious mafia.

So, Jesus died for all sins except the sin of unbelief?

there ya go HR, 4 posts you can talk around, and after that we got about half of the Bible you'll be needing to avoid, as usual, right

you might state how you believe that you will escape the judgement that "all" will face, you have an out for that too right, you are not in that "all" as far as you are concerned, isn't this correct?

10For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless.

Got it. You are saying that Jesus' work on the cross only makes salvation possible then a person has to obey the law and stop sinning to earn it..

You twist the word of God for your idea. The word of God says His shed blood paid for the sins of the whole world but you wish to change it by adding the works of man. What the word of God says is that all sins have been paid for. No one will go to hell because of sins of the flesh. They have all been paid for. BUT they will go to hell if they do not have FAITH IN GOD'S promise of salvation through faith (belief) in His Son's work on the cross. They are saved because they have placed their belief, faith, trust, and confidence in what God has done for us on the cross and in doing so glorify the work of Jesus, God's Son, on the cross. Those that are not saved do not place their belief, faith, trust and confidence in what God's Son did on the cross. When they do this they are refusing the pardon God has instituted for then and therefore are guilty of their sins of the flesh.

Most men/women could care less about God, The religious want God to honor their works as Cain did.

I think I know where you are going to go with this. Unbelief in itself is not a sin except when it is unbelief in what God says.

LOOK IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. If a person does not believe what God says isn't that person doing what Eve did in the garden? What the Jews did when they refused to trust in God's word about driving out the people in the promised land? God said things to people all during the O.T. and Jesus did the same when He was on the earth. But now, in this age of God's grace, God has spoken to us through the apostle Paul. Many reject Paul but it is recorded that Jesus sent Paul into the world with a gospel of His grace. If you reject Paul's gospel that was given to him then you are rejecting God's grace where He, God (Jesus) paid for our sins of the flesh.
