Thanks to Marks for the inspiration for this little "how to".

-
Believers generally look at "putting on the new man", from the wrong end of the telescope.

So, put on the "new man"..... How ????? WHAT??

Well, is the new man the born again Spirit? It is only if the Spirit is an actual man.

So, if that is not it, then what do we put on....and how?
And here, is where the heretics lockstep into self righteousness, while the enlightened rest and rejoice.

What is the "new man"?

1.) Mind of Christ
2.) "In Christ".
3.) Walking in the Spirit

Its all that, which is actually the same thing.

See, you dont put it on you, as its not a fragrance or a tattoo... so, to "put on" is a SPIRITUAL Reality, and not a self effort.
To put on the "new man"....Its to becom this...

= Jesus says = "apart from ME, you can do nothing"...

So, how do you do it wrong, thinking you are doing it right, regarding born again spirituality?
You do it wrong by self effort, which is always a product of self righteousness.
Remember that self righteousness is you trying to please God by SELF, or you are trying to stay saved by SELF.
And that is NOT what pleases God.
What Pleases God is the >right type< of FAITH.....and that is not self centered.

So, to put on the "new man", is to believe right, which is to have the right MIND regarding the things of God.
You have to dial this in......> THE RIGHT MIND<......and the way you do that, is to get rid of your self effort to be right with God, and instead completely REST in God's GRACE that has made you right with God and Keeps you right with God.

Remember Saint that what SAVED YOU = keeps you saved, and that is not anything you did, or can do.
Salvation is ALL of God, unless you are the Blood of Jesus.
See it?

So...You ABIDE in that THINKING that im showing you which is to believe right.
And when you learn to live in that Right MIND, that is 100% in agreement with God's Grace, then you have "put on" the right mind, and that is the "new man".

Saint.....Renewing your mind, so that you believe correctly at all times, is to put on the new man.
To have a believing faith that is ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY centered in GOD's GRACE as your HOPE and FOUNDATION and LIFE, is to believe right.
Anything else, and you are deceived.

Saint would God have sent Christ to the CROSS, if anything else could forgive your sin, save you, and keep you saved?
Jesus said you can do NOTHING apart from Him, and that includes keeping yourself saved, receiving revelation, perfecting your discipleship....and everything else you are trying to DO for the wrong reasons.......some of you.

God wants you to REST in His GRACE all the times, fuly assured that you are completed and made righteous.
So....Get THAT MIND, and keep that Mind, and you have put on the "New man" correctly.

When you have seen this LIGHT, and start living in that MIND< you are walking in the Spirit.

Very good..an overlooked expression.....the mind is where it's at, indeed. The right mind, without force, internal or external coercion, and any artificiality produced by self or the world. Once this 'right' mind is sensed/ realized of Christ by our being/spirit, it stays or is maintained in that mode longer and longer as we grow and mature. And it becomes easier to stay in that right and Christ-centric mind from his (S)spirit within us.

I have a Thread here that is much deeper, that is posted here on the Forum, but, the simplified is this...

in the Time of the Gentiles, there are 2 dominions at work.

1. under Law
2. under Grace

Unbelievers are under the law, and "Christ has redeemed US from the curse of the Law", is the spiritual reality for the born again.
However, these dominions, because they are literal and spiritual, function for us or against use based on how we BELIEVE.

What this means is, is that a born again child of God can believe themselves right back under the LAW, and Paul defines this as "falling from Grace" and getting back "in the FLESH".
THe FLESH is the "natural mind", or the carnal mind. So, when a born again believer is operating in their carnal mind, then they believe WRONG about most Spiritual things that are contained within the Kingdom Of God.
You can always locate this deceived beleiver by finding out if they BELIEVE they can lose their salvation.
If they believe this, then they are fallen from Grace, and are deceived, yet, still saved.

The point you make here is critical in understanding:

Once reborn with the Spirit it cannot be undone within that person, although that mind can still at times wander and fall away from this unwavering grace and gift of salvation with faith through Christ. A reborn child can still have the wrong belief or mind(set) as you say, and still always have their salvation intact and secure. They are never 'lost.' Being in the 'right' mind and belief always, is the desire of YHWH for all his true children - to be one in Christ and therefore the Father. This is true sanctification in action.

So, to put on the "new man", is to believe right, which is to have the right MIND regarding the things of God.

Here's another "step by step" instruction,

2 Peter 1:4-11 KJV
4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

These are the targets for our thoughts.

Much love!

Putting on "the mind of Christ" is accomplished by staying in the word of the Lord.

I would encourage believers to not pay attention to teachers on boards like these...because many of them are false.

I would tell the "newbies" to start reading the Bible for yourself and just keep plugging away at the Bible to determine for yourself what it really teaches; going from Matthew to Revelation and from Genesis to Malachi.

1Jo 2:27, But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

You dont put on the new man by reading the bible.
You dont need a bible to put on the new man.
You need a new mind to put on the man.
Putting on the New Man is to bring your mind into the same perspective as God's.
This is the "mind of Christ".
Getting THAT, is how you put on the new man.

Yes, reading the word of God is significant although if one has not the right MIND first, it becomes rather ineffective...especially if it used as a rote exercise just to say you were in the word. Once we are in the rest and mind of Christ we breathe there we inhale with faith and yield our natural spirit and be filled with Christ. Then we exhale with prayer, thanksgiving, repentance of occasion sin, even temptations. We exhale with prayer for guidance etc...Get the picture? As we breathe in the rest and mind of Christ more and more, our mind tends to stay in Christ in the world, and not back in the carnal mentality of the world and our flesh.....hope this helps

Yes, you have to have a mind that is connected to God.
The born again are always connected to God by "New Birth", but that is the Spirit, and not the mind.

The "natural man" (carnal mind) can't receive the things of God because what God offers is "Spiritually Discerned"..
This is why you have fights on forums and devil's in pulpits, and 40,000 denominations that all disagree.
What has happened is...... religious people, who are carnally minded, open the bible and read it as "literal", vs, Spiritual, because they can't get the LIGHT from it, as the "natural man" can't receive the WORD.
But the natural mind can READ it, and become a theological monster.
And these carnal monsters live on forums.

So, they have all these verses, that are filtered through their self righteousness, and this turns into RELIGION and Legalism., and that is what they preach.
And it turns into Cults, also.

Churches are being built every day, worldwide, by men and women who do not have the ability to discern the word or rightly divide it.
And they create more chaos in the world of Christianity.
There are forums, that do this......also. = Completely legalistic forums, owned and operated by legalistic Moderators, and these forums destroy new believers, every day.
They destroy their FAITH., and once that is ruined, you are ruined.
So, you have to live here...... Hebrews 13:9.

A believer has to be strong strong strong regarding their deep knowledge of God's GRACE, and that if found when you get a good Teacher who gets you into spiritual shape and builds you into a Grace Driven Light for Christ.
That is the spiritual foundation, and there is no other.
Not water, not works, not commandment keeping,.........none of this.
A believer has to be deeply grounded in Grace, THEOLOGICALLY and SPIRITUALLY, or the Devil is going to take your mind and turn you into a cultist, a religious legalist.
A heretic.

Well said, and of course your subject and real concerns are also mine.
I have always known that those that love to chuck out scripture especially without explanation are those that are satisfied with being a type of legalist and not desiring to living in Christ at all. Many have never attempted it! And as you said there are many on these types of forums that destroy themselves and others around them. When scripture says to 'put on the new man' it means to do it, NOW, with fever as if your life depended on it and it does. It is not just some neat slogan to live WITH..it is to DO IT and live as a NEW MAN with a NEW Mind.

Your style is frontal and effective and I do understand it. Many use your style though to excuse themselves from listening to your messages. Oh well that is their misfortune. Yes, and the Great Grace shown by our Creator, to our pitiful human lives, to restore us back into his family as saints with Christ, his Son.

Bless you and your family...APAK

PS and YES the Spirit is the new (re)birth and not the connected mind that follows it

Of course it is important that you seek the Lord as you study His word...

If you are not getting your interpretations from the Holy Ghost (cf. John 16:13), the default is that you are getting fleshly doctrine from your reading of God's word...which amounts to heresy (Galatians 5:19-21).

Yes; for we put on the new man as we apply the holy scriptures to our lives.
Are you sure you are not just crawling? There's much more in this new life than just getting and applying scripture to our lives....just saying....you are not using all of the spirit IMO...

If you are asking this question of me then you should be concerned about your spiritual life.
I'm interested in what you think about it.

Of course what you are saying would be true if I were relying on you for the answer to a question that had to do with salvation...because of course you deny Christ's Deity and therefore to rely on you for the answer to a spiritual question might be to rely on someone who is going to die in their sins for the answer to a spiritual question about salvation.

But the question at hand, has nothing to do with salvation as far as I can tell.

If you don't have an answer for it, just say so.
