Yes, you have to have a relationship with God if you are going to dwell with Him in the future.
This is a very "religious" viewpoint you are stating. No one can be guaranteed of anything by their own beliefs. What is this "get to heaven" comment? A relationship with God is possible and advisable at this present time in order to live with God in the future age.

As you can see, this board is a place for people with different points of view. However, most people here are sincere about their faith in Christ and want to love and obey Him.
The bible is quite clear...the only way to The Father (to get to heaven!) is to believe in and have a relationship with Jesus. Jesus died for us so that we might have this relationship. Every other religion is about what we need to do to gain the favour of the 'god', therefore securing our salvation. Christianity is about what God does for us...He sets us free from sin and welcomes us to him. It's a pretty good deal!!

Believe in Him that died for all sins on the cross, having a relationship is all about accepting what He has done for us and seeking to do His will....Preach the good news to all creation...
No one can say for sure what will get you into heaven. All we can do is believe and keep spreading the word of God. Look to the cross as a reminder of what God did for us. Preach and teach love as Jesus did. Blessings!!

The blood of Christ shed upon the cross is what one can SAY FOR SURE will admit one into fellowship with the Father.
The blood is for the Father. When He sees the atoning sacrifice upon us, He will turn away from His wrath and admit us into heavenly places.
THIS IS FOR SURE. God is sure. The apostles were sure. The disciples were sure. Everyone who knows Jesus in the spirit knows for sure.
If the reader isn't SURE, then certainly is a thing to be persued until one is SURE. If one isn't sure, then one is simply playing religious games. It is better to be a whore and a reprobate sinner than to be UNSURE.
The blood is for the Father. The sacrifice is for Him.
The cross is for us. We are called to carry our particular burden for Jesus all the days of our lives or until we are relieved of it.
The blood saves. FOR SURE. Of that you can be CERTAIN.
