We made mention of the bible dividing soul and spirit last time, and the intention of the scriptures to do so. It bears mentioning again, your bible was intended for you to understand the difference between the two, soul and spirit. I'll give a couple scriptures that may have confused some at times, it's in 1 John 1:8,

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

And in 1 John 3:9

9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

We can listen to all the arguements about these scriptures but the bottom line is one is talking about your soul, 1John 1:8, and 1John 3:9, is talking about your spirit. Soul and spirit divided with no big intellectual disgruntled debates.
The word of God is able to divide soul and spirit, only the word of God. That is why when rightly dividing you must use the scriptures. The same is true for "righty dividing the word of truth." You must understand who your bible is talking to at a particular time.

The scriptures say "He spoke by the prophets at one time, but now He speaks by His Son," Hebrews 1:1-2

1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

You must divide that, if He no longer speaks by the prophets then you should not look for your message-truth-understanding-gospel from the prophets, you should get it exactly where He said it is only found, "in His Son." Can you see the importance of understanding your bible, and then we can read it like it is written, very plain and simple so that a child could understand Jesus said. No complicated theories, no hope so's or maybe's, no theological treks through the word to further confuse the reader. Plain and simple written in black and white english, with the HolySpirit as your teacher you will come to s renewed mind. He will teach you to read and understand your bible but He must teach you to properly divide.

You know what opens the scriptures to a believer, a hungry heart and being taught to divide soul and spirit. It is not that hard as the HolySpirit teaches you, but you must give yourself to the understanding.

There is a number of Christians that don't know what makes them a Christian. If asked they can give many good answers that are probably true, but what makes you a Christian is "Christ in you," you see the simplicity in that truth. No doctrine, cuts through all arguments and is absulute truth written in Paul's gospel alone over 150 times, that dear friend is the answer for humanity. How could that be with a world like it is, because Christ does not save you, Christ in you is what saved you. Every good politician you listen to proclaims the new birth (born again), they throw it around like it is a symbol of some kind of religion. Very few can actually tell you what it means, don't be duped and swayed by the outer attractions of man. Know your bible and read it like it was intended, live what you know that is all that is expected of you, believe.

I see Hebrews 4.12 as a latent background to what you say... :)
