Alright, here’s a whole essay I made to debunk reincarnation. As a disclaimer, I use CAPS LOCK to emphasize my points, and don’t mean it in an angry sort of way, it’s just, I’m very STRICT when it comes to salvation = faith alone in Jesus Christ to be saved permanently resurrected permanently and all will be made alive permanently after dying one time. For convenience, I’ve gotten all my responses from various forums and put them together into this big compilation.
Hebrews 9:27 Just as man is appointed to die once
It's good that we can agree that Resurrection is true. All those who believe in Jesus Christ will be resurrected into glorified bodies. And there will be a New Earth and a New Heaven, the city of New Jerusalem, where we can dwell in. Eventually, we will reach a point where there will be no more suffering for anyone, and no more death, because Christ will eliminate death. For me, I know those things as true.
So, I'm curious, what would you say are the differences between Resurrection and Reincarnation? Why would some people be resurrected vs reincarnated?
1 Corinthians 15:51 We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
Because it says all those who have faith alone in Christ will be resurrected. Born again, meaning someone was born once, and then, they believe in Christ with faith alone and are born again, and they already have glorified bodies free of sin because they believed in Christ. That leaves NO ROOM for reincarnation, because our RESURRECTION through Christ is sufficient enough.
I see. I have meditated on your comment my friend and discovered something profound. So, I will sound a bit… enthusiastic in this post lol, but here we go, I say these words out of kindness and love for the truth.
There are only two cases where a person would reincarnate. Allow me to debunk both.
1) Those who are not saved and die reincarnate -> FALSE. They die, and are stuck in Sheol, the realm of the dead, until they believe in Jesus Christ and are saved. After, they are permanently in a “resurrected” state.
2) Those who are saved and die reincarnate -> FALSE. They die, and are saved because the Holy Spirit goes inside them, and then, when they die and are born again, they are permanently in a “resurrected” state.
Thus, this proves that all conditions of reincarnation are false. There is ONLY room in scripture for RESURRECTION! There are only two people that exist, those who are saved and those who are not saved. And all people will believe in Jesus Christ and be saved.
Adam, another reincarnation-believer, messaged me this too “I do believe that Sheol is real and that we can only escape through faith and penance, but that afterwards we can voluntarily return to Earth out of a desire to please God and help others. But I don't want to get too involved into that, a person can believe in reincarnation or not, it wouldn't really change anything, we'll learn the truth of it when we die.”
Faith and PENNACE!?!? It’s faith ALONE that saves up.
True penance = True repentance = Recognizing you’re a sinner, recognizing your sins.
False penance = False repentance = Feeling sorry for your sins and wanting to turn from them.
“Repentance is not some little silly, 'I'm sorry.' Repentance is not simply a fear of God. Repentance is not a monk fasting and afflicting his body in a monastery. Repentance is not remorse because of sin's consequences. Repentance is not penance performed before the pope as you kiss his toe... Repentance is not being sorry for what I've done wrong. It is not confessing one's sins to a priest. It is not just conviction of sin. It is not the signing of a pledge of abstinence. Repentance is that thing when you come before God and see yourself as you are, and see Him as he is, and say with Isaiah “I am unclean!'” —Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001). Though I am against fundamentalism, this is a good quote.
“But that afterwards we can voluntarily return to Earth out of a desire to please God and help others.” says Adam.
That’s not reincarnation, that’s resurrection! Those who voluntarily return to Earth are already resurrected, and they stay resurrected! Because salvation is permanent! I’m very passionate about this because so much damage has been done to people by the lie of losing salvation. The TRUTH is that when you are saved, you are PERMANENTLY saved.
The ONLY way to come back to life is through faith alone in Jesus Christ, which leads to RESURRECTION. That’s the ONLY way!
Matthew 27:50-53, “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.
These people came back to life to help God on Earth were RESURRECTED, not reincarnated! This proves that reincarnation is false and that resurrection is true! Because resurrection and reincarnation are naturally contradictory. There can only be one. Either resurrection is true or reincarnation is true, and we all know resurrection is true!
Reincarnation after salvation would be pointless because we’re already resurrected, we’ve already won over death because we trusted in Christ! Reincarnation just adds unnecessary steps. And adding unnecessary steps to the Gospel is works salvation and is thus false. We only need to believe in Christ to be saved, not reincarnate! Those who die go to Sheol, and stay there when they died the first time. But they believe in Jesus and escape, thus resurrected.
Adam says “But I don't want to get too involved into that, a person can believe in reincarnation or not, it wouldn't really change anything, we'll learn the truth of it when we die.”
Look, my friend, you can’t just mention a such a big concept like that and expect me NOT to comment on it! If someone believes in reincarnation that changes A LOT!!!
Someone who believes in reincarnation
1) Denies Permanent Salvation, because Resurrection shows that the Holy Spirit permanently lives in a person when they’re born again.
2) Denies Faith Alone Salvation, because Resurrection shows that you believe in faith alone in Christ and are given permanent life.
3) Denies the deity of Christ, because Resurrection shows that Christ’s sacrifice was sufficient to be saved!
4) Denies Resurrection, because when someone dies, believes in Christ, and is born again, they are permanently born again!
There are different beliefs in reincarnation, but anyone who believes in any sort of reincarnation, which means, coming back to the flesh over and over again. These are extremely important doctrines that any belief in reincarnation denies!
