Remembering the first commandment of God to Moses and my parents to me (adding the front door)... And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. - Exodus 3:5

I post this as I bought one of those new intelligent carpet vacs and had to give the house an extra cleaning before I could use it. It is amazing the difference clean floors make!

Poor brother Zac of India mentioning the shoe rule. His son opened up a church in California mentioning that the ladies head should also be covered and he said half the church walked out!

Too much preliminary work, I should think? I think we bought one for our daughter some time ago. Too much moving furniture around the tool. The tool doesn't merit so much attention! ;)

I always look at the first Commandment of God in Genesis 2: 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

We been dying ever since, but now we have hope through Jesus Christ.

I thought that the first commandment was given chronologically in Genesis 1:28: - 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

To me, the word "commandment" is limited to the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament and the two great ones in the New Testament. There are also decrees, statutes, ordinances, and testimonies.

I think you right, even though the lord didn't use the word Commandment. I started to post that one first.

Commandment is used a whole lot in the bible...

So many of them it caused the religious leaders of the day to ask the Lord...

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. - Matthew 22

But not everything the Lord said is a commandment. If you follow the twelve, I think you'll find great peace. It has brought me great peace.

I try to explain this to people, but they say there are hundreds of commandments, and it's impossible to follow them all, and therefore they don't try. And therefore they don't find the peace that I have found.

I do not find issues with you. If you have confessed the Lord Jesus, believed in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, do your best with the commandment part... Then no doubt you have found the way to great peace. As the scripture says...

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. - Psalm 119:165

Thank you. I don't want to suggest that I believe I am perfect, but I have found peace trying to obey the commandments.
