“Whereas on May 9, 2025, Representative LaMonica McIver arrived at Delaney Hall Federal Immigration Facility in Essex County, New Jersey, a federal immigration detention facility operated by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement … entered a secure area of Delaney Hall Federal Immigration Facility without authorization … attempted to prevent Federal law enforcement officers from making a lawful arrest of another individual who entered a secure area of Delaney Hall Federal Immigration Facility … slammed her forearm into the body of a uniformed Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent and attempted to restrain the agent by forcibly grabbing the agent … Representative LaMonica McIver must be held accountable to the highest standards of conduct in order to safeguard the public’s faith in this institution,” the resolution read.

“Whereas given her egregious violations, Representative LaMonica McIver is not fit to serve as a Member of the United States House of Representatives: Now, therefore, be it [r]esolved that pursuant to article I, section 5, clause 2 of the Constitution of the United States, Representative LaMonica McIver, be, and she hereby is, expelled from the United States House of Representatives.”

If that were me or you acting that way we would been handcuffed and arrested immediately, lock her up and kick her out of congress!

1 month prison time, $1,000 fine, and 6 months community service in "Ice Detention Facilities" emptying the trash, cleaning floors, etc!

That's being nice!

She'll skate. That's why she did this. She thinks she's above the laws she helps to pass for the rest of us.

Now she's making the media rounds.

Charges will be dropped because she's a black liberal female in a liberal democratic state, IMHO

If a conservative congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green did the same she would be behind bars without question

I hope US Attorney New Jersey Alina Habba goes for the jugular on this one, these above the law woke democrats need to be stopped!

Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver indicted, potentially faces 17 years in prison

Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury and plans to plead not guilty, according to statements from the congresswoman and the U.S. attorney's office in New Jersey.

Why it matters: Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba said McIver is facing a three-count indictment for allegedly "forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers," and faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted.

  • McIver has denied the charges and said in a statement that "the facts of this case will prove I was simply doing my job and will expose these proceedings for what they are: a brazen attempt at political intimidation."
  • She said she plans to enter a plea of not guilty.
State of play: McIver and Reps. Rob Menendez Jr. (D-N.J.) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.) were involved in a scuffle with law enforcement outside the Delany Hall detention facility in Newark last month.

  • The incident occurred as ICE officers went to arrest Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, with body camera video showing McIver elbowing an officer.
  • McIver has said she was the one who was assaulted in the clash.
What they're saying: Habba said in a post on X that "it is my Constitutional obligation ... to ensure that our federal partners are protected when executing their duties."

  • "While people are free to express their views for or against particular policies, they must not do so in a manner that endangers law enforcement and the communities those officers serve," she said.
