There are some believers that see the time we are now living in as the millennium. They, preterist, think the second Advent of Christ happened when Jerusalem was destroyed in 70AD. I DON'T and will often apply the following Scripture...(not that it does any good ) to change their minds but to me it lets us know that the resurrection is NOT PAST. 11 Timothy 2:16-18 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymeanaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some. However, lately I have wondered about.... Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne. This speaks not only of Mary and our Savior, The Man Child, but is also about the church bringing forth her man child....the elect...us! Revelation 20:5-6 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. Those that shall be priests of God are the man child, the elect, those "caught up unto God." In order to be of the first resurrection one must obtain that place while in our flesh life. After our physical death...it is too late. So, I wondered...are we resurrected spiritually before our death? Is that what this means? If yes then...the resurrection has passed for some and I need to make amends with some preterist friends. Then....I read the following and it became clearer: Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son; In Whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins;We are not resurrected when we accept Him but we are "translated into His kingdom!" We walk with God now....just as Enoch did and we too are translated to His kingdom...even while we are in flesh. Isn't that the most amazing and wonderful thing to understand? Genesis 5:22-24 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.We who are the elect, are the man child, have the testimony of Christ. Christ abides in us and walks in us now....we have been "translated" or "caught up" into His kingdom, delivered from the "power of darkness" and...we shall not "see death," for, "on such the second death hath no power." We are not yet resurrected, the resurrection has not "past already" but we "have part in the first resurrection," for we are caught up with Him.

This is very exciting ---not many people "get it"...see there is this deep acceptance that must happen. If we don't understand it and don't accept our inheritance -the gift that was given to us, when we don't realize it --- well, I don't know -we just are missing it. We are missing the whole enchilada!Keep it up, Whirlwind ---More, please.

First and Second Advent Notes (I did a forum search , but didn't find the more recent thread on this)
(sorry about the run on lines formatting.... will change later if I can ) ...

"The Second Coming of Christ We must not only look back to the cross but also look forward to the Lord’s return. The grace of God which has brought salvation to us is to enable us to wait for the glorious appearing of the Lord. We should therefore serve the living God on the one hand and wait for the Lord’s return on the other. Though we yet live on this earth, we break bread to remember the Lord till He comes. Though we lay stress on service as to how we need to fulfill the priestly ministry, we nevertheless know that such service on earth will not continue forever. One day we shall become the bride of the Lamb. All the objectives of the believers are not earthly.

However much we may emphasize the local church, even that will not last on earth. We are looking and waiting for the Lord’s return.

The calling of God for us is not earthly, but heavenly. In sum, God has not called us to build permanently on earth. . . . We are not out to change the world; rather, we are called out to be those who are unto the Lord. We entertain no hope of this earth, nor do we anticipate anything from the world.

At His first coming, the Lord delivers us from sin and grants us the life of God that we may commune with God. This, however, is only half of the work. Though the question of sin is solved, the problem of death yet remains. The dominion of sin in man’s life is over, but the kingdom of Satan still lingers.

The power of death is broken, nevertheless our mortal bodies may yet die. Although we are saved, we continue to live in this corrupt environment. The holier the life, the deeper the feeling over the defilement of this world.

The salvation which we now experience is but half the story, because the Lord Jesus—though He has saved us—has not yet changed the world.

pg348 The Finest of the Wheat The World The second coming of the Lord is to change the world. He will not only give us enjoyment within but also allow us to enjoy the environment without because He will change the environment on earth.

Many people are interested in social problems. They argue: “The salvation of the Lord saves only individuals but leaves the world full of inequality. Even the lower animals suffer so much. All the things in the world serve as enticements to men to sin.

Though individuals may be saved, what about all these negative social conditions?”

As to this matter of waiting for the Lord’s second coming, there appear to be two different concepts held among Christians.

On the one hand, some believers are set on improving the world, but unfortunately they end up being defiled by it instead. On the other hand, others say that our responsibility is to rescue people out, and that the improvement of this world must wait till the Lord’s return.

The Bible is not lax with respect to these matters. God has not said that so long as sinners are saved and are assured of going to heaven that that is enough.

The Bible entertains no such thought. For heaven is not a matter of individual salvation; there is also the matter of the new heaven and new earth, which comes when and only when all who are ordained to eternal life have believed in the Lord. The Bible does have the salvation of society or the salvation of the world in view, but this work will be completed only with the second coming of the Lord. Today the church is commissioned to preach the gospel that individuals within the world may be saved, and yet the Lord has not forgotten the world. We are called today to rescue people out of the world, and not to change the world itself. This world has absolutely no hope whatsoever. All the problems on earth will only be solved at the Lord’s return. . . . At His first coming, the Lord’s gospel solves my personal " ....
