River of grace Flowing
Begin with rain falling high in the mountains, waters falling to valleys below. A river forming. Now we think of God's river of grace never ending. No beginning, no end.
By Frank Lee Jennings
Beads forming, drops merging
tiny tricklets sprinting down
scores and hundreds fingers joining
to mountain mazes winding round
off gray ledges waters leaping
grown to rushing, skyward heaping
waves whirl bounding, ever growing
cascades riot, rainstorms blowing
a swirl fest, boiling, frothy show
charging jagged flint below
headlong into pools and hollows
motley flotsam riding high
roaring steeply down through gorges
sheer faced mossy granite hands
rays of mist birth peacock rainbows
rush away to delta lands
wider now though often parting
join again far from the starting
merged again through many turnings
blended waters onward churning
tribes of waters dance as one
gleaming in the noon day sun
shimmering under midnight moon
stealthy in a cloudy gloom
wheeling, tilting, cupping wings
scant above tan waves
speeding flights of waterfowl
soar above the. twilight bays
darkly, boldly, moving ever
dawn then twilight greet the river
greet fierce squalls and monsoon bands
flotsam, jetsam joining hands
river dwellers mull the flow
net gray schools that swim below
harvest wood that floats above
glean the harvest coming home
ancient waters seaward flow
falling to the dales below
growing, joining, streaming down
field by field, town by town
men just ponder God's own flow
love and grace are sent below
neverending grace He sends
Jesus' rivers flow to men
come and drink the savior calls
of the water sent for all
blood and water sent for man
sent to water desert lands
sent to water those that pray
God would change and heal their ways
so drink and quaff from springs above
living waters, springs of love
delta river brown and grown
wise with age, youth all sown
but Grace of God in ageless flow
sent to cleanse we men below
flowing to our lives forever
flowing ceaseless ending never
flowing by the Father's plan
flowing from His strong right hand
boundless river heaven sent
crystal clear and never spent
sweet as honey, power filled
flowing by the Father's will
all we need is flowing ever
brought to us by His great river
never wanting, never fear
never doubting He is near
Revelation 22:1-2 NASB
Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb,
[2] in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
