2 Corinthians 10:13-15
[13] But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. [14] For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure , as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: [15] Not boasting of things without our measure, that is , of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

“According to the measure of the rule which God distributed...” remember when the disciples asked the Lord to “increase” their faith. Paul above (inspired of the Holy Spirit) says God had distributed rule of what? Paul’s hope as a Father over spiritual children (fruit); prospered and increased unto the kingdom of God was that their faith would increase unto all things good and righteous and true.

Galatians 6:16
[16] And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

1 Corinthians 15:24-26
[24] Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. [25] For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. [26] The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Does the “For he must reign, till...” not imply He already reigns and is putting down all rule?

Ephesians 6:12
[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places .

Colossians 3:15
[15] And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

1 Corinthians 4:19-21
[19] But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. [20] For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. [21] What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

If they had not received the kingdom of God and we all still wait for it...then how could the power of the kingdom of God be expected?

Ephesians 5:9-10
[9] (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth[10] Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

What is acceptable unto the Lord? If those born of the Spirit are the proving (evidence) of what is acceptable unto the Lord...what is acceptable as seen within the fruit of the Spirit? What did Jesus Christ prove was acceptable unto God? what did Paul prove what is acceptable to the Lord with the rule God had distributed to them?

[13] But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
The King James Bible has rendered the word "rule" literally from the Greek word kanon, which means a rule or standard, but more broadly it means a defined area.

Thayer's Greek Lexicon explains it thus:1. "a definitely bounded or fixed space within the limits of which one's power or influence is confined; the province assigned one; one's sphere of activity: 2 Corinthians 10:13, 15f. "

So what was Paul saying here? That according to his calling as an apostle he had been given a defined area of activity, or sphere of influence, and that he did not need to exceed that to prove anything, neither did he need to compare himself to others, or boast about their achievements. And this principle applies to every Christian.

It was also his hope that the Corinthians would recognize his achievements when their faith had increased, and when they stopped measuring Paul by his outward appearance (which was not necessarily impressive).
This whole chapter is admonishing the Corinthians to judge Paul righteously, and not mistake his meekness for weakness.

The two major lessons for Christians from this section are:
1. We are not to glory in ourselves, or other men, but glory only in the Lord.
2. We are not required to commend ourselves to be approved by others, since it is the Lord who commends and approves us.

Thank you. It helps bring clarity; also possibly to 1 Corinthians 7:17-24
[17] But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. [18] Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. [19] Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. [20] Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. [21] Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. [22] For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. [23] Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. [24] Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

Yes. Major lessons. I’ve struggled with comparing and coming away from doing so depressed.

2 Corinthians 10:12
[12] For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

2 Corinthians 10:17-18
[17] But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. [18] For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
