Hello everyone,

just wanted to check in and introduce myself.
According to my member name you can call me Kidron. ;)
"Kidron" as in the Kidron Valley in Israel.
Have you ever been to Israel.????
Well, i live in Israel, so, if you have any questions about the place, i'll try to answer.

This forum is my 3rd "Christian" forum experience, and i hope to enjoy it.
My job title is "evangelist, NT teacher, minstrel, so that means im in a unique situation
to try to share the gospel.. wherever im found.
In case you were wondering about sharing the gospel here in the land of the Bible....well, its legal, but you do
need to speak Hebrew to be the most effective, and of course, you would not want to share
the gospel with any rabbinical Jews on Shabbat as this would be a serious case of bad timing.

Im into music and have a ridiculously extensive collection of music on disc and vinyl, and as a professional musician im also into making music and CDs, and some of it has been found in France, Russia, Belize, and of course Israel.
Ive an older bro who is a Pastor and a younger that is a missionary with his family in Kiev (Odessa)Ukraine.

I hope to chat with you on the forum real soon.

be blessed,

K

Sounds like you'll add a unique perspective here. I look forward to it.

What genre(s) of music do you prefer?

HammerStone, may i call you HS as you can call me "K" if you like?
Thanx for the warm greeting, and here is a "kind regards", right back at'cha..

Music...
Ah, yes, i love it.
When i was 10 years old, i took my mom's credit card and called 1-800-Time-Life and ordered a set of music
called "As You Remember Them".., as i had seen the advert on TV a few times and had to have them.
Fantastic collection of movie themes, originally arranged, from the 40s-60s.
I immersed myself at 10yrs old inside such beautiful melodies as found in that collection.
After this, my ears gravitated towards anything beautiful.
When i turned 17, after playing a woodwind instrument for about 6 years, i decided i wanted to learn how to play the guitar.
This led to years of practice, bands, tho my 1st love was always to write music.
I get a buzz, a supernatural buzz from start to finish, when im working out a song.
And regarding a specific answer to your question...
I cant really say i have a favorite genre of music....tho this is a typical answer i suppose.
But for me, if you open my CD tray, and yes, i dont do MP3s, i only do 16bit or beyond....so, if you were to
take a look at a random "rack" of my CDs, you would find anything from Rich Mullens to The Wailin' Jennys, to Glen Gould, to Eric Johnson, to Pat Metheny, to Catherine
Durand, to Clifford Brown to Keren Ann to Alison Krauss and Union Station to Amy Grant to Vince Gill to Rascal Flatts to Viktor Krauss to Fionn Regan to Hiromi to Imogen Heap to Michael Chapdelaine to Phil Keaggy to Pierre Bensusan to Keith Urban.

And yes, i do listen to some secular music, tho i try not to own any music that i feel is too sensually designed.
So, while i can appreciate Katy Perry, or Beyonce, i have to draw the line.

You noticed that i listed quite a few guitar oriented musicians, as this is my chosen instrument.

So, what do you have in your Ipod that you like the best?
top 10??

be blessed,

K

Sure, I'm always open to HS - it's easier to type. I usually call people by what they sign off as. ;)

Oooh, on iPod and top 10. That's a totally loaded question, but:

Red (Christian harder rock)
OAR
Def Leppard
Lifehouse (develops Christian themes)
Newspring Worship Band CD (large church in my state)
Boston
Lynard Skynard
Dire Straits
Third Day
Linkin Park

(In no specific order.)

I'm pretty much an eclectic Rock guy. I'll listen to some Country and other genres. I like listening to local small guys play on acoustic or electric. I've helped one of our Worship Leaders
write a song. I'm like you in that there is a point where I draw the line on some music when it gets too caught up in stuff, but I definitely blend Christian and "secular" music.

I like stuff with themes and passion. Take Red. My favorite CD is called innocence and instinct and it plays off of inner conflict fashioned after Dante's Inferno. I like stuff like that. Lifehouse, for instance, almost jumps back and forth between talking about God and talking about a relationship with a loved one.

Good list.
I have the Dire Straits live CD from around '80....and how can you not like Def Leppard if you like guitar rock...Most people who are fans of the band like the Pyromania CD the best, but i like "High and Dry" the best....
LIke 3rd Day....Like Linkin Park...Have the reissued Boston CDs that came out in '06......like Skynard and Lifehouse....and im not familiar with Oar or Red, but i'll find them on Youtube im certain.

thanx for the list...
