I had the neighbor ask me to jump start his car today. I went to do it but the jumper cables wouldn't reach. He wanted me to drive my car up on the sidewalk to align it properly so I told him I couldn't get to it that way. He then wanted to disconnect his battery and have me charge it. I told him no and that he should get the neighbor to do it.

He did. And after all of that was over I remembered the last time I started someones car. It was after that that my starter quit working. It cost $1500 to fix.

So long story short. If he asks me again I will have to turn him down. I really don't want to turn him down but I don't want to risk damage again.

I looked online and a tow company said it was harmless. But an insurance company explained that newer cars are very electronic and a lot can go wrong.
