Philippians 3:8

8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Suffering the loss of everything that made Paul who he was.
I hope you have had a mind change in giving up everything that made you who you are, to follow Christ as Paul did.
His physical birth had to be set aside. He suffered the loss of parental activity in his life. He suffered the loss of education. He suffered the loss of of his ethnicity. The loss of being from the tribe of Benjamin.
He suffered the loss of being a rabbi and lawyer. He was famous man among Judaism of the day because he destroyed followers of Christ.
Your mind is like a computer with a hard drive that stores memory, you never forget. A choice is made at some point to set these things aside for a different knowledge and understanding. The things that gave you identity will have to suffer loss. You absulutely unequivocally cannot have your new or proper identity until you do.
We all know those that believe their ethnic group is superior to another group. It is an epidemic that started with Adam and continues today. What ever the case may be you will be like a stick in the mud. There is no Christ likeness, no expression of true self, no reaching humanity on the levels needed.
It leads to pure mind separation from who you are. This age of technology showcases education, it must be set aside that you might gain in the knowledge of who you are.
He will not use you based on who your earthly parents are, doesn't matter who they were.
He does not care if you graduated Harvard.
He doesn't care if your a famous politician, lawyer, doctor, artist, a writer, or a criminal. He is after mind expression of the Christ in you, get that, can you see that.
Your objective therefore is not to ask God to get rid of your past but to suffer the loss of these things for Christ.
In other words you allow Christ to be more important than your past. That is hard on believers because they say "well I was trained a certain way." Suffer the loss and I promise the day will come when the Christ in you will be able to use these things.
Suffer the loss of your ethnicity and He can use your ethnicity.
Suffer the loss of your identity so Christ can use you as you were created.
That takes mind change.
