Some believe that Jesus did not die on a cross, but that it was a stake such as in straight up and down. But if he was our Passover Lamb then the rehearsal for Passover must follow suit. Jesus is the Door and his blood is the sacrificial blood of the Lamb that must be applied to each of our personal door posts of our spiritual house/body as it is told in the details for the Passover.
If you will notice, the blood of the lamb was to be placed on ether side of the door as in arms spread out and over the top or head of the door post in which it also would drip down to the ground. And this is the perfect example of a cross and when we lay our hands out to the side of our bodies as his was it resembles a cross with our arms being more than half way from our feet.
Ex 12:5-11
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover.
KJV
When we pick up our cross to follow Christ as we are told to feed upon his body for he is the Bread of life, the very Word of life to live by, what we are doing is following the Word to renew our minds as we are tried and tested in the hands of men and our own defiant fleshly beast nature to overcome to hopefully Cross... over from death to life just as Jesus over came and set down with the Father.
