Out of all the great books of the bible the book of Acts may be the greatest of transition books in the written word.
Many powerful events take place, the HolySpirit being poured out on all flesh. The Church got it's start, you ever think about that moment when the time we live in with multiple churchs got it's start, powerful to say the least.
We have the Apostles now going about full of the Holy Ghost preaching, unenamored by the religious rule of their day.
The stoning of Stephen for his unwaving zeal for the gospel. The conversion of one Saul of Tarsus to Paul, who became the Apostle to the Gentiles. The many miracles that took place, unbelievable things were happening. Healing by clothes and kerchiefs that were from the body of the Apostles.
The very shadow these men cast could heal the oppressed and insane.
The transition from law to grace is well on it's way, these Apostles were in the cutting edge, if you will, of the greatest move God had ever done in creations history.
All through the book of Acts we can see the lord still trying to reach his beloved Israel.
Time and time again they have rejected him. If only the religious rulers would say "this is him whom the prophets prophesied about, accept ye him," all Israel would be saved.
In a Theocracy you do what the religious authority says because they are God's mouth piece.
But to the heart break of God himself, they could not do that.
And so we get the final word for Israel from the converted Christian killer Saul of Tarsus, now a Christian, Paul the Apostle, Acts 28:28

28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

All the covenants and promises of God to Israel will be placed on hold until the end of this dispensation.
God will not break his covenant with Abraham or anyone else, but he will put it on hold and move into the dispensation we know as grace.
Grace simple means; you have the life of another in you, even Jesus who is the first born among many brethren, Romans 8:29

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

I see Acts as the record of the Holy Spirit invasion of earth. God establishes beachheads in the Jewish outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And later at the gentile outpouring. Where these speaking in tongues transmit the Holy Spirit into the hearts of those who hear and understand, decoding the message through gifts of interpretation. The Apostles then establishing beachheads at Samaria and Ephesus. The believers speaking in tongues, transmitting the Holy Spirit into the hearts of all who hear and decode their messages through accompanying gifts of interpretation. And finally all believers establishing beachheads called churches throughout the world, transmitting the Holy Spirit into the hearts of all who understand in their own native tongues. With the major influx of the Holy Spirit being transmitted through the completed New Covenant scriptures, into the hearts of all who read and understand.

Yes and the HolySpirit being poured out on all flesh. Instead of just coming on those that had a specific task in the OT, now poured out on all flesh.

All through the book of Acts we can see the lord still trying to reach his beloved Israel.
And that's why after reading Acts one needs to study Romans chapters 9-11.

Christians who have bought into Replacement Theology have clearly not seen that even though Israel and the Jews rejected Christ (and the majority of them continue to reject Him today), God's covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will be fulfilled in the future (following the Second Coming of Christ).

However, that is not an excuse for Jews today to remain in unbelief, since during the Church Age, God makes no distinction between Jew and Gentile (in spite of John Hagee's mistaken ideas). Regarding Hagee's false Dual Covenant Theology, here are some eye-opening remarks:

You will notice that clicking on the video below brings up an offical YouYube notice that the video has been terminated from the NTEB YouTube channel. This was done at the offical request of the people at John Hagee Ministries. Why would they do this? They did it because in the video, which is a commerical for Hagee's book, "In Defense Of Israel", John Hagee asserts that "Jesus did not come to the earth to be the Messiah". Yes, that's right, John Hagee said that, and John Hagee believes that. But when the book was published, there was such an outcry against his obviously heretical position, that Hagee was forced to re-write his book, and claim that he was "misinterpreted", and that he "used the wrong words" to get his point across.

At the same time he released his book, he also made a television commerical that ran on TBN, with him looking into the camera and saying the very things that he claims people have "misinterpreted" from his book. Maybe you can "misinterpret" a book from the way you read it, but him doing a TV commercial saying exactly what he denies is said is pretty powerful stuff. Things like this are usually referred to as the "smoking gun".

For good hermeneutics, it's very helpful to distinguish between the church and Israel.

farouk,

yes....and Israel from Israel rom9
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
Hello gentiles and jews as one new man, The Christian Israel.

Curious about that statement "Jesus is the true Israel," ?[/QUOTE]
Look at isa.49.....now watch...in the first exodus...God spoke of the nation of Israel as the covenant Son. Ex4::22....let my Son go that he may serve me.

Mt2:15 quotes from hosea 11:1 out of Egypt I have called my Son.
Now Jesus alone is called out of Egypt as the true Covenant Son in the second and final Exodus....
..we are found in Him who is the true passover, true tabernacle, true High Priest, true manna, true light, true water from the rock....do you see it?.
