The Deliverance Ministry

There are three specific types of deliverance a person may encounter in their walk with God.

1. Personal Deliverance

This happens when someone humbles themselves before the Lord, allowing the Holy Spirit to search and cleanse areas of their life. At times, this may require prayer and fasting as the Lord leads.

Biblical Examples:
“I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4).
Jonah cried out to God from the belly of the fish, repented, and was delivered (Jonah 2:1–10).
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”
(James 4:7).
Jesus resisted Satan in the wilderness by declaring the Word of God (Matthew 4:1–11).

Scriptural Guidance:

Seek God earnestly
(Ps 34:4).
Repent and confess
(Jonah 2).
Cry out for help (Ps 50:15).
Submit and resist
(James 4:7).
Declare God’s Word (Matt 4).

Personal Encounter.

At one time as a new believer, I remember having difficulty reading my bible and found that I couldn't read past a paragraph. I kept going over the same paragraph time after time, and it would not sink in. At other times when I tried to read, I would fall asleep for hours, having not read a thing. It got to the point where I had to ask the Lord to help me to read so that his word would stay in my heart. I cried out, “Help me, Lord.” One night as I struggled to read the bible, a powerful anointing came down and ripped something from my spine. It flew out of my mouth like a swirling serpent and fled. I was able to read very easily after that. Not sure what it was, but I put it down to some kind of ancestral/familiar spirit. Whatever it was, It hindered my ability to read the word of God and was cast out by the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Glory to God!

* Crying out to God, repentance, confession, resisting the devil, and submitting to Christ can bring self-deliverance (see James 4:7). Sometimes it may require fasting and prayer. As the Lord leads.

2. Spontaneous Deliverance
This occurs when a believer encounters someone in need of deliverance, often suddenly or in the middle of a manifestation, requiring an immediate Spirit-led response.

Biblical Examples:
Paul commanded the spirit of divination to come out of the slave girl (Acts 16:18).
Jesus rebuked an unclean spirit in the boy, delivering him instantly (Mark 9:25–27).
Peter spoke healing and freedom to the lame man at the temple gate (Acts 3:6–8).

Scriptural Guidance:

Discern the enemy’s activity
(Acts 16:18).
Act in Christ’s authority (Acts 16:18).
Be Spirit-led, not formula-driven
(Mark 9:25).
Stand in faith and prayer
(Mark 9:29).
Help restore the person
(Mark 9:27).

A Personal Encounter:

I was at a meeting once when a woman came to the front for ministry. Someone came up to me and asked me to help the woman because they were unable to. When I got there, she was shaking violently. I cast out Jezebel and her underlings (while listening to the Holy Spirit), and she hit the ground like a dead person. Others tried to intervene, thinking she needed help, but I told them to leave her.

After a while she got up and was free. She was seen a week later, coherent and filled with the joy of the lord at another christian gathering. This is spontaneous deliverance, unexpected, but requiring boldness and authority in Christ.

* Always be ready to respond if someone manifests or seeks help. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading. Pray in Jesus’ name, and use your spiritual authority.Encourage and support them in their walk with God.

3. Deliverance Ministry (Team)

This involves a group of believers ministering deliverance together, either spontaneously or in an arranged session. In this setting, there is unity, shared discernment, various gifts manifesting, and authority. However, every team member must also walk in holiness and submission to Christ, as demons can call them out (Acts 19:13–16). This may also require counseling if the person involved is not a believer.

Biblical Examples:
Jesus sent out the 72 disciples two by two, and they returned saying, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name!” (Luke 10:17).
Philip preached in Samaria, where many were healed and delivered. Later Peter and John came to lay hands for the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:5–7, 14–17).
Paul and Barnabas, ministering together, confronted Elymas the sorcerer, bringing breakthrough (Acts 13:6–12).
The seven sons of Sceva were exposed because they ministered without true authority (Acts 19:13–16).

Scriptural Guidance:

Work together in unity
(Luke 10:1).
Preach the gospel (Acts 8:5–7).
Execute your various gifts with the team (Acts 8:14–17).
Be Spirit-led as a team
(Acts 13:2–4).
Remain humble. (Luke 10:20).
Walk in holiness and true authority
(Acts 19:13–16).

Personal Encounter

I was asked to join a ministry team to help a woman who came up for prayer. She was a mess and was in tears, crying out to God for deliverance. I came up and listened to the Holy Spirit's leading, who gave me a list of all the generational and genetic curses coming down to the youngest living child on her family line. I broke those curses as the Holy Spirit led, in the name and the blood of Jesus. The guest speaker that day then came up and prayed for her healing and the healing of her family. She and her family are now free in Jesus' name and are walking in the light.

* Minister with others for covering and wisdom. Work in unity, share discernment, and keep Christ at the center. Every team member should walk in holiness and submission to Christ, lest demons exploit hidden sin. Always give glory to God.

Three Types Of Deliverance:

1. Personal Deliverance:
Seeking God, repentance, resisting the enemy, fasting, and prayer (individual breakthrough).

2. Spontaneous Deliverance:
A believer ministers immediately by Spirit-led authority (unexpected but powerful).

3. Deliverance Ministry (Team): walking in holiness (corporate covering and multiplied authority), unity, combined gifts, and ministry led by the Spirit.
