Exodus 20:13 - Thou shalt not kill (H7523).The Hebrew word for kill is H7523 - ratsach1) to murder, slay, killa) (Qal) to murder, slay1) premeditated2) accidental3) as avenger4) slayer (intentional) (participle)

(Niphal) to be slainc) (Piel)1) to murder, assassinate2) murderer, assassin (participle)(subst)d) (Pual) to be killed...ratsach raw-tsakh' a primitive root; properly, to dash in pieces, i.e. kill (a human being), especially to murder:--put to death, kill, (man-)slay(-er), murder(-er).As you can see, one of the Ten Commandment Thou shalt not kill does not mean not to kill at all. It means that a person who has the intention (premediated) of wanting to kill a person. That is murder........Ecclesiastes 3:3 - A time to kill (H2026), and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;H2026 - harag1) to kill, slay, murder, destroy, murderer, slayer, out of handa) (Qal)1) to kill, slay2) to destroy, ruin

c) (Pual) to be killed, be slain...harag haw-rag' a primitive root; to smite with deadly intent:--destroy, out of hand, kill, murder(-er), put to (death), make (slaughter), slay(-er), X surely....As you can see here, scripture does say a time to kill. It means we have to take the person who has the intention (premediated) of murdering the person out and send the murderer back to the Father to prevent greater evil. And this action does not at all contradict Exodus 20:13.Therefore, lets see in the NT of what Christ sayMatthew 19:18 - He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder (G5407), Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,G5407 - phoneuō1) to kill, slay, murder2) to commit murderphoneuo fon-yoo'-o from 5406; to be a murderer (of):--kill, do murder, slay.Christ says Do not be a murderer.

Very true Jordan ... if one accidentally kills another or kills in self defense ... this does not break Gods commandment only if one intentionally sets out (plans, premeditates) to kill one of Gods children.. they have broken the commandment. The Hebrew is much more specific than our English translations.
