Hi!

So I had this funny thought: you know the story of the Emperor with no clothes, right? An Emperor is approached by some gentlemen, who say "We will give you some wonderful, wonderful clothes to wear, are you interested?" And the Emperor says 'yes', and they work and work to create these clothes and because it seems to be taking some time, the Emperor asks to see their work. Of course, the gentlemen (the tailors) oblige and say "Look here, at this wonderful fabric and its wonderful design" and the Emperor can't see anything; but the gentlemen say it is of the finest quality, so he believes them.

So anyway the story progresses, with the tailors doing all the work they say they can and the day of the big reveal comes, and still the Emperor can't see anything, but the tailors say it is of the finest quality and in fact, they ask him to try it on. So the Emperor puts on this exquisite coat, with wonderful fabric and wonderful design and starts to admire the work these tailors have done. They say "It looks fabulous on you: truly royal, truly opulent" and the Emperor decides he will feature in a parade, with his new clothes. And of course, no one argues with the Emperor.

So the parade begins and people are encouraged to compliment and praise the Emperor, for his new choice of clothes - which no one can see, one way or the other - and the crowd marvels, not at where the clothes are from or how the Emperor came across them, but at what cost such clothes must have come to be paraded in front of all his people. When, all of a sudden, a boy in the crowd, who has no pretensions as to what is or is not clothing, says "the Emperor has no clothes!"

"The Emperor has no clothes!" is the end of the story, but I think society in these days has gone a step further; I think these days, society, the crowd, the people would hear the boy in the crowd say "the Emperor has no clothes!" and would say "Don't say that! That's intolerant! We mustn't be intolerant of the Emperor and his new clothes!". Now, you laugh and I think you have reason to laugh, but what happened with the passing of Marriage equality laws?

Marriage equality laws suggest that "marriage is something you show the world"; it is "reasonable" and "equitable" and "effectual" and the crowd loves it. But what are people of the same sex wearing? Look at their clothes! If I am unmarried, it's understood that I am waiting for the right relationship, for me to then be married. But if I am an unmarried gay person, am I waiting for someone who is married to become gay? Or am I ungay - for suggesting that marriage is the right thing to wait for, not specifically anything else? At what point, is "marriage" 'gay' (and not marriage)? A true marriage does not need to be defined as something else to be true! The Emperor's clothes! Intolerant?

Anyway, whatever you get from my attempt to be logical, if you are confused by the idea that gays and lesbians have to "have marriage too" then we are on the same page. Promising them the Emperor's clothes, only confuses people who believe in marriage by faith, which is essentially all marriage is!

Let's pray that future persecution doesn't find it's roots, in the inability of the Church (but of course the True Church is able) to call the truth the truth!

God bless.
