"And he shall confirm the covenant..."

    1) DOES THE BIBLE SAY ANTICHRIST MAKES A COVENANT?
No - the Bible doesn't say Antichrist makes anything...it says "he shall confirm" the covenant. The act of confirming a thing always follows the act of establishing the thing. You can only confirm a reservation after you make one...confirm an appointment after you make one...confirm a deal (by handshake, signature, etc.) after you make one...and confirm a covenant after you make one.

Therefore, Jesuit Futurists must explain how Antichrist is to show up on the scene after the fact to only "confirm" -- not make -- the covenant between two nations that daily plot each other's annihilation, when the making of this miraculous covenant is presumed only possible by the mediatory hand of this same Antichrist before the fact.

    2) DOES THE BIBLE SAY THAT SATAN MAKES COVENANTS WITH THE SAINTS?
No - it says the opposite. In Job, the rhetorical question is asked, "Shall he (Satan animalified as "Leviathan") make a covenant with thee?" to which the answer is obviously "no", "nada", "nein", "negatory". Again, Jesuit Futurists must explain how an idea that is so foreign to Scripture came to be so central to Jesuit Futurist eschatology.

LOL Hi there! Nah, that hiatus taught me a lot of things, including that if we ain't speaking the truth in love, we're just sounding brass and tinkling cymbals. We don't fault a rabid dog for biting people, and we shouldn't be angry with papists who defend their twisted theology, no matter how much venom they spew.

    Surely not again.

ANTICHRIST MAKES A "LEAGUE" IN JERUSALEM:

The "vile person" of Daniel 11 represents the final Antichrist that is to appear in Jerusalem, and make a "league" with a small people, i.e., a small group in Jerusalem.

    Dan 11:21-23
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

22 And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.
23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

    KJV

That "vile person" is then mentioned in relation to the "holy covenant" with being against it, and then he is shown ending the daily sacrifice and instead placing an idol abomination in its place.

    Dan 11:28
28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.

    KJV

    Dan 11:30-31
30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
    KJV

Those Daniel 11 events are the ANSWER to the Daniel 9:27 symbolic "one week" events.

The Dan.9:27 idea of confirming the covenant is what that "league" of Dan.11:23 represents. It represents the establishing of old covenant worship in Jerusalem again for the end. The "abomination of desolation" event REQUIRES a standing Jewish temple in Jerusalem for the end, and sacrifices going on with the re-established old covenant for the orthodox Jews. That is why the "vile person" is associated with making that "league" that will confirm the "holy covenant", even though secretly he will be against it, and the small group with him. That is the actual meaning of 'confirming' in the Dan.9:27 verse.

@2 Chr. 34:19 Sad question indeed from Pontius Pilate; the Lord Jesus Himself said in John 17.17: "Thy word is truth", and this is what truly sanctifies.

The KJV says “confirm the covenant” not “make a league”. As stated in the OP, making a reservation and confirming a reservation are two diff things.

Well, Scripture says Jesus is the Truth, His Word is Truth, the commandments are Truth, the law is Truth...I may have missed one or two more.

How can you just skip... right over these verses I posted about the "league" the "vile person" makes?

    Dan 11:21-23
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

22 And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.

23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

    KJV

The word "league" there is the Hebrew word chabar (Strong's no.2266) and is translated in the KJV meaning 'a joining, coupling together'.

That "vile person" coming in "with the arms of a flood", and the reference to that "covenant", and the "league" is what the Daniel 9:26-27 verses are about. Dan.9:26 says the "end" will be "with a flood", which is actually a metaphor for how the Antichrist comes in (Jeremiah 46:7-10; Isaiah 8:7-17; Revelation 12:15-16). The "he" in Daniel 9:27 must be picked up from verse 26, which Titus that destroyed the city and sanctuary served as a type for the final Antichrist in 70 A.D. The "vile person" of Daniel 11 is who causes the placing of the abomination that maketh desolate, which was prophesied by our Lord Jesus in His Olivet discourse for the end of this world.

    Matt 24:15
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
    KJV

    Dan 11:31
31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
    KJV

FYI for brethren on the forum. Those on man's doctrines of Preterism try to hide the events of Daniel 11 about the "vile person" in relation to the Daniel 9:27 events, and that's why they would deny the connection of the "league" made in Dan.11:23 with the "vile person" to the confirming (make strong) of the covenant in Dan.9:27. The "covenant" of Daniel 9:27 is the "holy covenant" of Daniel 11:28, 30, 32. But the "league" of Dan.11:23 is a pact that 'confirms'... the holy covenant (i.e., old covenant worship).

Thus the idea of confirming the covenant per Daniel 9:27 is about the establishing of old covenant worship with sacrifices for the end. And since Daniel was told to seal up the book and shut up the words, even to the time of the "end", Preterists cannot just assign those events to history and then skip over it like the prophecy doesn't exist, like what Phoneman777 just did in post #8.

Daniel 11 is a historical future account (from the time of the Medes and Persians) to the present day and beyond. There are some debates on some details, but there is a lot of agreement on some significant points.
    Verse 1 and 2 are media/Persia.
    Verse 3 Greece.
Verse 4 the break-up of Greece into four divisions. This can be readily affirmed in Daniel 7 and 8.
From verse 5-13 the various battles between the kings of the north and south describe the wars that ensued between Ptolemy and Seleucis.
Verse 14-22 gives us the rise of Rome (the robbers of thy people) through to the conquest of Judea and the crucifixion. First Pompey (16) then to verse 19 the various battles between him, and Antiochus, and Pompeys first entrance into Jerusalem and the beginning of Roman rule there. with brief mention of Julius Caesar "stumbled and fell (19) and was succeeded by the "raiser of taxes" (verse 20) was Augustus Caesar (see Luke 2:1).
Verse 21 gives us the vile one, Tiberius, who was constantly drunk. And it was in verse 22 that we see Tiberius as the one in charge at the time of the crucifixion.
From verse 23 till 26 describes the battle of wills and lies between Antony and Caesar, and the historic controversies between them, Cleopatra, and Antony's wife Octavia, Caesars sister.
Verse 28 offers us the final defeat and destruction of Jerusalem.
From there till the end of the chapter, runs the history of the break up of the Empire, and the rise of papal Rome verses 35-39.
Much detail could be offered to explain the above, as well as the what can be expected in our time which encompasses verses 40 to chapter 12:1-4 which describe the second coming.
So, plucking one verse from the midst of a continuing history and making it to mean something yet to transpire makes a mockery of prophecy. It simply doesn't work, and there is nothing in scripture or history that gives validation or confirmation of your assertions.

BTW, I corrected "Textus Receptus Greek" when I meant to say "KJV"...they workin me like a Hebrew slave, so I was pretty tired when I wrote that LOL.

I skipped over them because the interpretation your using is incorrect. It is "..he shall confirm the covenant..." Jesus came to confirm the promise of the New Covenant that He Himself made all the way back in the days of Jeremiah.
    • Paul says Jesus came to "confirm the promises" - one of which is the promise of the New Covenant.
    • Isaiah says God promised to give Jesus "for a Covenant to the people..."
    • Malachi said Jesus would "suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the Covenant..."
    • Paul says the New Covenant "began to be spoken (confirmed) by the Lord, and then was confirmed to us by (His disciples and apostles)".
    • Jesus said, "This is My blood of the New (Covenant) shed for many for the remission of sins."
    • Daniel said "he shall confirm the covenant with many..." the same words of Jesus.
Did you see where I proved that no where in Scripture do we see Satan make or confirm any covenants with God's people, but that Scripture plainly teaches that Satan will not make any such covenants?

... a Chapter which neither YOU or the commentators correctly present.

Perhaps if you obeyed the angelic instructions in 12:4 & 9, you'd have a starting point. But as it stands, you have no clue as to anything regarding this Chapter.

And I agree that picking and choosing which verses one "applies" is worse than dishonest, but until YOU start with the context of the Chapter, you're just as bad.

For example, when General MacArthur assumed Governorship over defeated Japan, did he require someone to "confirm and strengthen him"? -- The only people that needed "strengthening" were those who were about to be led to the gallows for their war crimes, -- which included Tojo Hideki.

God’s Holy People in the Last Days:
Isaiah 62:1-12... ..They will be called the holy people; the Redeemed of the Lord.

Daniel 8:23-26 In the last days, when sin is most prevalent, a powerful leader will arise. He will succeed in whatever he does, and will take control of the mighty nations and of God’s holy people. By cunning and deceit, his plans will come about and cause great harm to many when they least expect it. He will challenge even the Prince of Princes, but then will be broken, but not by human hand.
This prophecy tells of events to happen in the distant future.

Daniel 7:23-25 The explanation given is: There will be a 4th kingdom, one that will encompass the whole earth. Initially ten rulers will govern it, but another leader will take over all this kingdom. He will defy the Most High God and will conquer the holy ones of God.

Revelation 13:7 The ‘beast’ is allowed to wage war on God’s people and to defeat them…. Zechariah 14:1-2

Daniel 11:32 By plausible promises he will win over those who will violate the Covenant, but some will resolutely keep their faith.
The Covenant here, is the one between God and His people, for their protection.
The treaty, the 7 year peace agreement of Daniel 9:27, is between the Leader of the One World Govt, and the leaders of the Christian nation of Beulah. It will be broken by the leader of the OWG after the first 3 1/2 years. Daniel 11:31

These Bible prophesies are proof that God’s holy people, His chosen elect people, 1 Peter 2:9-10; all those true born again Christian believers; the One people of God, Ephesians 4:4-6, are not removed from the earth, as some would like to think, but are present in the holy Land during the last few years of this age.

As we see in Daniel 11:32 and in Zechariah 14:2, they divide into two groups, one remaining in the holy Land and the other goes away. Revelation 12:6-17 again shows these two groups; the faithful ones who refused the peace treaty with the leader of the World Govt, taken to a place of safety and those who did agree; Isaiah 28:14-15, must remain. Revelation 12:17

The fact of all the righteous Christians living in all of the Holy Land, before the Return of Jesus, is well prophesied in all of the Bible. Many do not see it because of false teachings and not comprehending the truth of how Christians are now to be the recipient’s of the promises of God, given initially to ethnic Israel, but now available to all the faithful believers. 2 Corinthians 1:20

We Christians look forward to being at last the people God has always wanted in His holy Land. Ezekiel 34:11-16, Romans 9:24-26

That is our promise and our great privilege; to be alive to participate at this critical time of mankind’s history.
