I took my 19-year-old son to see this movie today. It's OUTSTANDING! It's about a hippie, Jesus, movement that occurred in California in the late 60's and early 70's. There's a lot of great humor in the movie. It's also a powerfully moving movie.

The real truth about Lonnie Frisbee:

Chuck Smith made a false prediction that the Apocalypse would come in 1981. There are other problems involving Chuck, as well.

In either case, the movie is not telling you the whole truth (Which is scary).

The term “Jesus Revolution” was coined by Bill Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ. In his book, The Coming Jesus Revolution (1971), Bright argued that a spiritual revolution was taking place in which young people were turning to Jesus and rejecting the traditional forms of Christianity they had grown up with. This new generation of Christians he dubbed “the Jesus People” or “the Jesus Crowd.”

This movement began as an attempt to reclaim Christianity from its more conservative elements and bring it into alignment with contemporary culture. The movement taught to love, acceptance, forgiveness, and peace instead of judgmentalism and condemnation. Followers also embraced a holistic approach to faith emphasizing personal transformation and social action. They strove for unity among all believers regardless of race or denomination while still maintaining their own beliefs about God, scripture, and tradition.

At its core, the Jesus Revolution sought to create a church that looked like the world—a diverse gathering where everyone felt welcome regardless of their background or beliefs. It also sought to demonstrate that harmony could exist between different Christian denominations without compromising core convictions about doctrine or practice. As such followers often participated in ecumenical initiatives such as joint worship services with other denominations or interdenominational Bible study groups. These initiatives were aimed at fostering understanding between various Christian traditions.

In addition to these efforts at creating unity within the Church, members of this movement also worked towards bringing greater attention to issues related to poverty and economic injustice around the world through charitable works such as soup kitchens run by local churches offering food for those in need; mission trips aimed at providing medical care; education programs designed to teach literacy skills; job training schemes; etc. Moreover many saw themselves as agents for societal change engaging in campaigns against racism war draft dodging drug abuse abortion etc.. By doing so they hoped not only to reform society but ultimately usher in what they believed would be a messianic age characterized by justice mercy compassion peacemaking service nonviolence environmental stewardship etc...

The impact on religious thought has been signed since then, particularly among younger generations who have become increasingly disillusioned with traditional forms of religion due largely in part to due influence Jesus' revolution had over them during their formative years...For instance, many now embrace theology based on the concept of grace rather than law seeing god as a more loving accepting forgiving father figure rather than a distant wrathful deity...Also because the emphasis is placed upon living life according to the scriptures and living out values taught therein followers come away from the experience having developed a sense of moral compass shaped by bible verses and practices thereof...Moreover, the way interpreted scripture tends to differ greatly from older generations instead focusing on less literal interpretations take look bigger picture and underlying meaning behind stories told therein focus on broader themes contained throughout the bible example working together to promote peace justice equality wholeness community rather than simply following laws letter.....Furthermore, the idea of serving others as active agents of social change has taken hold in modern Christianity making a difference lives of those around us central tenet faith...Lastly, the idea of pursuing holiness and becoming closer to god personally experienced
