What do we see when we look in the mirror
When the truths of our reflection appear
Do we judge ourselves wisely
Or just ignore the unsightly
wrinkles, and loss of our hair.
Ageing is timeless
and never compromises,
or misses its appointment with death.
We can cover it up
Again and again,
but the truth remains
Under the skin
And death awaits…
the wages of sin,
While we smile
A cosmetic grin
In the cover of darkness
We hide from the light
So it doesn’t reveal
This horrible sight
We keep with others
Who encourage our ways
To sin and play
Our lives away
And burry our past
And our secret mask
And say its all good
But it goes away fast.
And soon it becomes clear
The wages of sin appear
Life goes by quickly
As a river flowing swiftly
But the mirror unmasks us
And judgment awaits us
With no second chances
Who can save us?
The answer is simple
It is found in the Gospel
His name is Jesus the Christ
Repent of your sin
Let Jesus in
and receive everlasting life.
