There are scriptures that talk about the Spirit of Christ in a believer, but the weight of scripture is "the person - Christ in you." The person of Christ in a believer. Paul even forgave in the person of Christ;
10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; - 2 Corinthians 2:10.
It is no different than if you could take yourself (you the person) and place it in someone. You would be in them.. I know that is a crude analogy but a truth is there. We have the person of Christ described to us as our only life;
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20.
When I was first understanding Christ as my life, a friend described it like putting a sock in water - the sock goes in the water..
and the water goes in the sock.. and they are one. The two become one the moment you are born again. In life and Christ dwelling in born again believers made a perfect union with no separation in spirit at anytime. The only separation believers feel is; the Holy Spirit is elusive. Sometimes you can feel him and sometimes you cannot. But he never leaves you - that is in your seat of emotions where the Holy Spirit dwells to lead a believer. He is soulish as our teacher. He is in those seat of emotions/mind/will (soul), because the Christian has to be lead and taught the things of God! The Holy Spirit is soulish to be able to instruct you, Galatians 4:1-2.
1Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2 but is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. - Galatians 4:1-2.
