A most significant rule (of God) that we haven't considered in depth in the "God's rules" post is the actual goal of the ministry of the prophet: reconciliation to God. All prophecy has as its ultimate goal, not simply the revelation of God, but the reconciliation of mankind to the Lord Himself. Jesus, who we identify as Prophet, Priest, and King, has accomplished this reconciliation through the sacrifice of His blood, having become the propitiation of our sin.
Jesus, being "the Prophet" (foretold by Moses) and the very word of God made flesh, is also the source of His Spirit: "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
Jesus' purpose was reconciling man to God and those who serve as His body until He returns participate in that ministry through the gospel and discipleship to those who receive it.
18. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
19. that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
21. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
