James 1:1-27

One of the best tests of Christian growth and maturity is trouble. When a believer goes through personal trials, they discover the kind of faith they really possess. Trials not only reveal our faith, but they also develop our character.

The Purpose Of Test 1-12, The Source Of Temptations 13-18, Faith Obeys The Word 19-27

Yes, the test of attitude and faith must come ...their cannot be a victory if there is no battle.

The children in the wilderness failed the test but two.

"And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, .... "

" That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ."

For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD swore that he would not show them the land, which the LORD swore unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that flows with milk and honey.

Joshua 5:6, But for us today: Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. James 1:3

1 Corinthians 10
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Testing our faith has the end of proving us, also the end of forming us.

Temptation = peirasmos = test / tempt / prove by experiment

Way of escape = the way out = a certain way out indicating a certain destination. The word speaks of a "safe haven out of the sea". Something specific in God's mind.

Any contrary circumstance tests our faith, and choosing to believe God's promises forms Christ in us just a bit more.

Much love!
