no one seems to know - so here we go - imho - this day is as a thousand years in the eyes of the Lord - enough time for the likes of him and Nicodemus and other non Christians to be born again as Christians - twinc

From your post, one would have to assume he to went to paradise, since Jesus' love knew no bounds.............right?

Universalists would believe that, yes. I'm not a universalist and neither are you, so why didn't the other thief go to paradise?

Probably because he mocked God and felt no remorse for the crimes he committed.

The one that went to paradise, instead of mocking God he rebuked the one who did. Instead of standing against Jesus, he stood up for Him.

But, Jesus forgives His mockers and forgives all for they know not what they do. What did the thief do to get to paradise? What do we have to do?

I believe all are already forgiven, we are all reconciled and the only thing to do is just believe in His Son. The other thief did not believe. It is only when someone believes on Jesus they are made righteous and will have eternal life.

Colossians 1:20, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Romans 3:22, This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,

John 17:3, Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

So all one has to do is simply believe and they're saved?

No, even demons believe in God, and they tremble because of it. One has to repent of their sins in heart, mind and soul. That's why the thief was promised salvation, because he saw in his heart that he repented. What happened on the cross between Jesus and the thief is the message of the Gospel in a nutshell. By the atonement of Jesus, you are supposed to believe that you have already been redeemed. That's what it means to have faith.

Romans 1:16, For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

What is the gospel? What is belief?

actually yes but to simply simply believe is not simply easy but simply very difficult if not impossible for most adults but not at all difficult for little children - what we eventually simply simply must believe is as at Jn 20:31 - as Jesus also answered hypothetical questions in a strange way He said we must get our priorities right and make sure we do not finish up in hell - twinc

reflecting upon the word paradise in Strong's is illuminating, imo; the blue arrows to the left and right of the word show the other forms the word is used for, etc.

imo it is at least advisable to be prepared to change one's mind there, "in Paradise" might easily be related to "in ecstasy" or even "in heaven," iow. And the Strong's suggests some other perspectives there as well, note how 'paradise' is related to knowledge, etc.

of course a lot of that is not meant for you, A, being already familiar with it

Hi Mary - what souls = where = every knee shall bow and every tongue confess = how = not just Nicodemus but all non Christians must and will be born again as Christians but Christians will not be born again - this will be the end of the road and final death - there will truly only be Christians/Catholics in both heaven and hell - twinc
