1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. - Romans 7:1-5.

What made the woman and the man of Romans 7 incompatible? She was bound and he was a dictator. She wanted to leave but was held captive by the law. The law had dominion over her. The law is a checking point for the sin nature. Without law you have Anarchy. That is the main reason of the law of the land, and it keeps the human, which has a sin, even if they don't know. We see the result of it which is evil manifested which is sin, evil manifest itself as Sin. The law keeps the sin nature in line for the most part.

That is what Creator God did through Moses. He gave 10 Commandments to keep the sin nature from taking over the sinner. Scripture refers to the sin nature that takes over a mind, that cannot happen to a believer, but the result of an unbeliever is, a reprobate mind which hath no law. You can read in Romans 1 about the reprobate mind who has no law no checking points. The sin nature nature has overridden the mind, that is, created in the image and likeness of God but now fully ruled and rained over by the sin nature. The reprobate mind leads to Anarchy which hath no laws. Scripture said governments and laws are good, why is that? They keep the sin nature in line.

For example; have you ever been speeding along at 80 miles an hour in a 70 mile an hour zone, and see a officer sitting with his radar gun on you. You get some kind of a feeling and, a electrical shock will run through your body, that is the law working in you. The law has been set you must do 70 miles an hour in that zone if you break that law you will pay a consequence, which is a fine of your money or worse sometimes. If you have other laws working against you such as in a arrest warrant or some other law that is working against you will pay the consequence for that as well.

The law has no end to it and keeping the law with a sin nature is, that is what Roman 7 is all about. You can keep the sin nature inline somewhat by the law or at least from going reprobate, but you will never keep the sin nature in check completely and forever. Jesus put the sin nature in check forever, he crucified the sin nature. Humanity has one or the other. You are still in Adam, or you are in Christ and have been set free by the cross upon believing in Jesus Christ as your personal savior.

A confession with your mouth and believing in your heart that God has raised him from the dead. So in Christ the sin nature does not exist, the only nature that exists in Christ is the nature of God which is in Christ, his only begotten Son. What many have failed to see is the moment you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ by the cross, that sin nature is dead. Paul said I am crucified with Christ, yet nevertheless I live, it is Christ who liveth in me. He shall be the praise of all glory!
