THINGS YOM KIPPUR NEVER WAS:

It is assumed in the original posts that the first day of the seventh month was the weekly Sabbath. This is not necessarily so!!! However it can be depending on that particular year. The feasts of Yahweh as laid out in Leviticus 23 do not necessarily fall on the weekly Sabbath day. However like already stated they can. One must realize that our Bibles were written on a different calendar than our modern Gregorian calendar bought in by Pope Gregory with it being only around 300 yrs old. Before that was the Julian calendar then the Hebrew calendar. The Hebrew calendar is what is needed when reading the Bible.
The feast of Yahweh in Leviticus 23 are known as High Sabbath days. Yom Kippurim (Day of Atonements) as there were more than one atonement taking place. It is also a Sabbath Sabaton which is in the Hebrew text. Known as the holiest day in the Hebrew Calendar this is why it is also known as the fast as they afflicted themselves on that day by fasting. This is referred to by Paul in Acts 27:9.
I recommend using the Greek Septuagint as a guide but it is my opinion one should get back to the Hebrew text as much as possible. As the Septuagint is a translation of the Hebrew Text so why not go back to the original?
Again the feasts of Yahweh being Passover, Unleavened bread (the 1st and last day of this week), Shavuot (Feast of Weeks) also known as Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) and the Sukkot (The Feast of Tabernacles) which has 3 Sabbaths being the 1st day the 8th day and because of the 8 day period there will be the weekly Sabbath within that 8 day period.
These feasts of Yahweh (not Jewish) read Lev 23:2 are Sabbaths and Lev 23 points this out by saying that these days are Sabbaths not meaning the weekly Sabbath but again could fall on the same day as the weekly sabbath but they don't more often than not.
I don't believe the Jews have it wrong and are misleading in this case.

28 "And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God.

When is no work done? On Sabbath days both weekly and Yahweh's feast days.

These are the introductory two verses,
“1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.” And therefore, yes, verse 3, “Six days shall work be done: but the Seventh Day is The Sabbath Day-of-rest, an holy convocation wherein ye shall in all your dwellings do no work because : it is The Sabbath Day OF-THE-LORD”, does affirm, that the weekly Sabbath like the other commanded for observance days, was a, or were indeed “the feasts of the LORD, which ye (Israel had to) proclaim to be holy convocations”, even the same as these other commanded for observance days in Leviticus 23, “my (the LORD’S) feasts”.

A joke in bad taste! Yom Kippur is about nothing but EATING AND DRINKING! Just check the internet.
And it is all about how disrespectful their eating and drinking can be - where the Torah forbids any bones of the passover sacrifice shall be broken, severed or cut off or through, whichever bone the Jews choose, they cook in water which also, the Torah forbids. No joke - it's scandalous, in fact blasphemous! And above all they have the audacity to call it "the fast of Yom Kippur"! UNBELIEVABLE! BUT THE ZENITH OF THIS INSANITY IS THAT CHRISTIANS ARE ITS OBSERVERS.
Basic mistake: It is NOT <assumed in the original posts that the first day of the seventh month was the weekly Sabbath>, it is unambiguously INSTRUCTED BY THE ORIGINATOR OF THE SCRIPTURE.
NO <feast of Yahweh in Leviticus 23> is recorded there, that there, was <known as High Sabbath day(s)>. The ONLY incidence in ALL Scripture of a real feast of OT times, the feast of unleavened bread in this case, its "first day", "on the fifteenth day of the First Month" Exodus 12:14 and Leviticus 23:15, is WRITTEN, that "That Day was Great / High Day-of-sabbath-of-(the passover)", and is found in the NEW Testament, in John 19:31 - nowhere else in Scripture - Holy Scripture.

What do you mean by <atonement>? Because the "at-one-ment" attempted on the 10th day of the Seventh Month was SPIRITUAL NOT SACRIFICIAL "affliction of SOUL" NOT of blood, and attempted for "making / working / attaining RECONCILIATION" between the ORDERLY TO TRIBE ASSEMBLED TOGETHER CHILDREN OF ISRAEL tribe by tribe, for exactly 24 hours duration "from sunsetting the 9th to sunsetting the 10th day of the Seventh Month". A matter of LITERALLY SOCIOLOGICAL AND PSYCOLOGICAL NATIONAL interaction and relation, most strenuous human effort, fruitless and useless for the purpose of forgiveness of sin and sinfulness against or in relation to the Almighty GOD personally. That's why the 10th day in the Seventh Month always fell on the Second Day of the week so that it never could be confused with the Sabbath or Sabbaths of Yahweh the Seventh Day of the week. But the Jews knew better than the LORD of the Sabbath of course.

The OT Holy Books only contain <the Hebrew Calendar> which is "ruled" not according to the years or seasons or months or days but according to GOD through his creating and eternal 'salvific calendar' "through the Son in these last days". The vista one gets through the Bible over whole the creation and history, begins at and stretches from the Most Holy Presence of God in Full Fellowship of Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the temple of Christ's Resurrection grave.

There is no such thing as do no work; to do no work is the work of doing no work. And man is of his works, most proud of THIS one, his work he is most successful with in working. But the moment man's success has to catch up with or meet GOD'S standard of obedience with regard to ANY Command of God, man's greatest achievements are reduced to man's biggest failures, which exactly was and still is and always will be so. Yom Kippur has always, proved itself the outstanding precedent and example of religious man's audacities.
