That means those in Christ should NEVER... pray to anyone but The Father through our Mediator Jesus Christ. That EXCLUDES praying to Mary, the flesh mother of Lord Jesus, which doing so is a form of PAGANISM. Likewise Jesus said to NOT do repetitious prayer, thinking that saying many Hail Mary's and Our Fathers will make God to better hear your prayer.
We are NOT to pray to angels either, and that includes the vanity of praying to dead saints!

18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
