Exo 24:10 and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under His feet the like of a paved work of sapphire stone, and the like of the very heaven for clearness.

(Stone’s Edition)
Exo 24:10 They saw the God of Israel; and under His feet was the likeness of sapphire brickwork, and it was like the essence of the heaven in purity.

(KJV)
Exo 24:10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

What seems interesting is there is no affirmation of the likeness of the God of Israel even though it can be assumed that “the body of heaven in his clearness” is a description of the God of Israel’s Presence.

But in the next verse:
Exo 24:11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.

Let’s face it, see God, and not prostrate one’s self begging for mercy? Considering what they just experienced even at mount Sinai when the Lord spoke to them all from the mount. And this is written by Moses who observes and witnesses that “And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand” to which one should understand that Moses actually knew God and God’s nature and points this act of God, or the none act of God out.

There is also what the Lord Jesus says that also is true:
Joh 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

John reiterates:
Joh_1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

1Jn_4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

So why didn’t God blow them away? the understanding might be in the following verse:

3Jn_1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
