John 21:15
15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God {MARTYRED}. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come{BLAMELESS REMAINED ALIVE AT HIS COMING FOR HIS HOLY BODY THAT WILL BE CAUGHT UP REV 12:5}, what is that to thee?
24 This is the disciple {MEANING JOHN WHO WROTE JOHN IS THE ONE WHOM JESUS LOVED}which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

This shows us that while Peter was going to be martyred.. John who leaned upon the breast of Jesus. Trusted and loved Jesus, feeding upon the pure milk of the the Word would possibly be one of those who remained alive at his coming.
Also notice that Peter was never told to feed the goats as many ministries do with the children's (God's) Bread/bread and we all have done it as well.
For they are not obedient sheep... they are the disobedient ones of the devils offspring who are stubborn and refuse to submit to THE WORD and not follow him as the sheep do. We are to love them with the Word but we are not to support their bad habits leaving them in the fallen unruly state that is destroying them. We are to point the way to God so that God can begin to bless them. God will not bless disobedience with carnal things of reward.. and neither should we.
One more thing is that we should take note of is that Peter had to repent 3 times for the 3 times he denied Jesus to bring him in right standing for he is faithful to forgive us our sins when we ask.
Remember that the Word of God is a Book of Treasures that we must dig for... and we must sift through carefully every grain to find all the treasures. In fact I would not even be surprised if there were more treasures in these verses!
