Jeremiah 22
14 That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
15 Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the Lord.

He did as God does, in judgment, and justice, judging the cause of the poor and the needy, so that he could know God.

Why do we obey God?

Some think in terms of the fancy wood, and bright colors, and making yourself look really good.

Some think in terms of obedience to earn a blessing, whether salvation itself, a "better position" in heaven, avoiding some punishment.

1 Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

Romans 8
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

We are being changed to become like Jesus. Cooperating with the work God is doing in our lives, makes us more like Him. Seeing what we are becoming shows us more about Jesus.

Obedience is not the goal, conformity is the goal, and obedience is a visible part of the pathway.

Living His way is to learn what His way is, which is to learn of Him.

Much love!
