They're so, so smart.
I had two when I was a teen. Amy and Angel. I set them up in a giant bird cage because it looked like a house.
One day, I came home from school and the rats were opening the cage door, climbing down the bars of my dresser like a ladder, and then jumping onto my desk from a chair. Then they would steal a giant oatmeal cookie and then take it back to their house. Repeat.
Their little house was filled with huge oatmeal cookies.

Yes, I had to. They reproduce like rabbits and I would have ended with 2 million. Lol

Oh my goodness. I couldn't imagine.
I hope she had some of them litter trained.
