The sun rises on a new morning and goes unseen by the anxiety of mans labors.A mans life is wasted by the work he assumes he must pursue and accomplish. He seeks to provide and maintain a mortal living for himself and his family, as though he can influence any positive results or gain for himself or others.Often the labor that he puts his hands to is undone in a moment by circumstances he can never avoid or manipulate. A ship without sail or rudder, he is tossed to and fro and believes he is at the wheel.80 years of toil, even with good intentions will result in what will, regardless of his effort or choice. He would put his name on all good coincidence and dismiss the bad as though it were part of his intent or design. When failure looms he is content to ignore the event and call it perseverance in hope, a hope founded on vanity. He believes he is master and designer of his own fate, and ignores the proof otherwise. His work of straw is consumed in a moment of fire, but yet he seeks praise for a life of ashes. The twilight years are spent in bitter regrets as though he could have made a better choice, or chose a different path, though the end is always the same.He teaches his son to make “better” choices and in the end his son has inherited his regrets.Lives wasted to feed the fire and heap the ashes.
