This was seen in the turkey earthquake as well. I believe they blamed it on something else. But some scientists are saying it's geomagnetic from the quake itself:

Well some scientists think it is created at the same time. As per the link I provided:
"Along with trembling buildings and shaking trees, those caught in the quake also witnessed something substantially more eerie. A barrage of blue lights, like flashes of cerulean lightning, lit up the night sky, apparently right above the fault line. It is odd for sure. Could it be spiritual forces at work, working their power over the earth to cause earthquakes.
Even if not, in the Last Days God has spoken to us by His Son Hebrews 1:2, , so we are in the last days for 2000 years on, but the times get worse and worse up until the end. At the end of the age, things like this get of extreme intensity accelerated.
In the last of the last days, we are told by Christ we will great signs from heaven and fearful sights on the earth.
