hey brothers and sisters in Christ [IMG]I have a question. Did Jesus die on the cross for everyone? And is God for everyone?I mean, the Bible even says (somewhere) that God loves His enemies, and the John 3:16 verse says "For God so loved the world..". Also, Jesus was called "friend of sinners". What do you people think?

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.II Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.John 4:42 - And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.I John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.JagLovest thou in Christ Yahshua, Lord and Saviour of the world.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. He desires that everyone be saved but unfortunately most people choose to reject Him. John 12:47-48 "If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.God's word clearly states that it is us who rejects Him, despite the fact that He would prefer that we come to repentance and make him our Lord.John 1:12-13 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.Only those of us who recieve Him will be led by Him through regeneration and recieve a new heart and be adopted into His family eternally.Romans 8:5-17 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-- for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. Matthew 7:16-23 "YOU WILL KNOW them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? "So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. "So then, you will know them by their fruits. "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. "MANY will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'"And then I will declare to them, 'I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'1 John 5:2-4 By this WE KNOW that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. 1 John 5:18-20 WE KNOW that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.1 John 2:3-6 By this WE KNOW that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this WE KNOW that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. 1 John 3:2-10 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. NO ONE who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, MAKE SURE NO ONE DECEIVES YOU; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. NO ONE who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? DO NOT BE DECEIVED; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such WERE some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. The Living Water is available to whoever wishes to receive it, because God so loved the world that He desires all to come to repentance and be saved. Salvation is a relationship, and as with any relationship requires both parties to be in agreement. It is true that God draws us to Him first, but it is also true that He will not force anyone to love Him against our will. The Jews were a perfect example of this. Jesus said He desired for them to come to Him and accept Him as their Messiah but they refused and rejected Him.Matthew 23:37 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. He wanted to save them, but they were unwilling. Stephen said the same thing just before these hard hearted people stoned him to death:Acts 7:51 "You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the SpiritGod sends His Spirit to everyone in the world, to draw us to Him, but most people resist Him. He said He sent His Son in the flesh because He desired that the whole world be saved. It is not because of God that most people follow the broad way to destruction but it is our own rejection of Him.Matthew 7:13-15 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.SealedEternal

It takes God Grace for us to be drawn, so from that aspect the Grace is first. We are free to reject or accept it.

    Does God draw everybody?
"And he began to tell the people this parable: 'A man planted a vineyard and let it out to tenants and went into another country for a long while. When the time came, he sent a servant to the tenants, so that they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. And he sent another servant. But they also beat and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed. And he sent yet a third. This one also they wounded and cast out. Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’ But when the tenants saw him, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Let us kill him, so that the inheritance may be ours.’ And they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others." When they heard this, they said, 'Surely not!' But he looked directly at them and said, 'What then is this that is written:“‘The stone that the builders rejectedhas become the cornerstone’?Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.” Luke 20:9-18 (ESV)"For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree." 1 John 5:7-8 (ESV)"And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."John 12:32 (ESV)"Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death."Revelation 2:10-11 (ESV)"Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him."James 1:12 (ESV)

Think it was CS Lewis pictured the door with a handle only on the inside and Jesus knocking on the outside. Not a perfect analogy, but yes we have to accept.

he wants us to choose a more blessed life,in action and faith..who can judge anyway...we will all see in that day when corruption will put on incorruption..your part in the lake of fire maybe is the part of your charactor that is corrupted or the part that is possed by a demon ....it says christ will not loose one of his sheep..so then when do you become one of his sheep...be careful here there is lots to think about...judge not to fast.....

Jesus most certainly DID die for everyone, but unfortunately not everyone will accept Him. He died once for ALL. He says whosoever will may come. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." He didn't say, "Whosoever among the chosen few that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." "Whosoever" means ANYONE.

That's right, for all those who come to him. Remember, Paul was forgiven, even sought out by Jesus. And look at what he was doing.:naughty:

John 6:44 states "No one can come to me unless the father who sent me draws him".And Jesus said in the same chapter and verse 37 M"All that the Father gives me will come to Me and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out"And again in the 17th chapter of John when Jesus is praying in the garden ,in part of His prayer He says "Father, I desire that they also that you gave Me will be with Me where I am".(quotes taken from NKJV) Does this mean that God chooses those whom He would have in His kingdom? If so would that not fall under the doctrine of predestination where "many are called but few are chosen"?....God Bless...Ray

I don't believe that God handpicks certain people to be saved. The Bible says that God doesn't show favoritism. Acts 10:34 "Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism."Romans 2:11 "For God does not show favoritism."He doesn't choose one to be saved and one to not. He doesn't say "Suzie can accept me, but Bob can't." God has a chosen Body, or people, and He is adding to it those who accept Him each day. I believe salvation is possible for everybody...John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."1 Timothy 2:3-4 "This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."Someone argued that since Peter was talking to scattered Christians, he was only talking about them. "Anyone" and "everone" literally applies everyone...wicked or righteous. Why wouldn't it? He didn't just say "He is patient with you, not wanting anyone among the chosen to perish, but that they come to repentance." He included "everyone". And being wicked isn't an excuse for God not wanting anyone...Ezekiel 18:23 "Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?"Ezekiel 18:32 "For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!"God may have been talking to a certain audience, but He said that He does not delight in the death of anyone, not even the wicked. This is just my view. You don't need to agree with me. [IMG] I'm pretty confused on the subject of salvation, so I started with only two verses: the John 3:16 verse and the 2 Peter 3:9 verse. I wanted to find verses that could link these two verses together because I didn't want to preach anything that wasn't found in the Bible. I didn't want to sound like I was perverting God's word. So, I read the book of Romans and found a few more verses there that could help me. Then I joined this site so maybe my brothers and sisters in Christ could give me some verses that would help me. Now, after all the verses I have found, and the fact that God is a loving and merciful God, I have come to the conclusion that God doesn't choose certain individuals to be saved. I believe He offers it to everybody. God bless you all [IMG]

THEY are the ones who don't know scripture when they limit God and limit his love, grace and mercy. There are NO limits with God, although one day it will all come to an end, and death, hell, and evil will be cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity along with satan and his followers.
