[1Corinthians 15:1-2 KJV] 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
Believers are not saved unto eternal life by keeping the gospel in memory, but by simply believing the gospel of our redemption in Christ (Romans 3:21-26 1 Corinthians 1:21).
[1Corinthians 15:12 KJV] 12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
The salvation in view is that of being saved from the error of false doctrine. There were some saying there was no resurrection of the dead as seen in the verse above; this was the error the Corinthians needed to be saved from.
[1Corinthians 15:13-14 KJV] 13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14 And if Christ be not risen, then [is] our preaching vain, and your faith [is] also vain.
They would be said to have believed in vain if there was no resurrection. If there was no resurrection they would not be risen and would be dead in their sins.
Their faith and work for the Lord was being undermined by this false teaching; Paul exhorted them to be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).
