I thought it was faith in Jesus??

It's really weird to be faithful to a book that talks about the death, burial, resurrection, accession, and return and victory of Jesus Christ.

The Bible is a collection of Letters over time. What authority/proof do you have to say it's written to anyone today?

All the Apostles that witness Jesus Christ, and his resurrection, Acsenison, and I believe even some were caught up when Yeshua had returned before the destruction of Jerusalem had come...

They are all dead. Where is anyone in authority that I must place my faith in the bible, and not Jesus?

So, where do you go to get information about Jesus?

(Actually, I'm sympathetic to your cause here. This is why St. SteVen has all those "Bibliolatry" threads.)

You get the story about Yahavah's dealing with mankind, and how he restores it through his Son. I noticed some people say you "must place your faith in your bible."

But it wasn't written to me in the first place right? It's always "believe on the Son of God, which are the works of Yahavah."

I've been told by an old man Lambano when I was kind of new to Christianity and he told me to metaphorically throw it away... Ol Samuel, nice old man but that threw me off along time ago.

And let me just say, I love the bible and am grateful for it, but once we get an understand we move on in faith and living by the spirit, because of the victory of the Lord Yeshua, and it's not a book of "must do this or must do that."

Cause if that is the case people need to be doing everything which is said in it, and move to Jerusalem and go and visit every door and knock and kick the dust off their feet otherwise, they are just ...

Lying to themselves, or have been religiously manipulated through traditions.

Who says have faith in your Bible? It is have faith in Jesus, Believe in Jesus.

I also believe that the Bible is God's word and so is true. It is the word of God and His word will not come back to Him void. Scripture says, ...the word of God will never pass away...So I have enough faith to believe that, God has the ability to get a decent copy of His word into my hands over the ages. Is anything too hard for God? And when all this is over a lot of people are going to realize that one of their biggest mistakes was not believing His word is true.

I was self employed in my trade before retirement and there was a "slow time of the year" for me. There I was, broke and I just ran out of coffee. To top that off, I had company on the way over, lol!

I had no work scheduled or money. I sat down and I was going to pray, Lord send me some money I need groceries or send me some work...But before I began praying, I remembered that scripture that says, do not worry about what you will eat or drink for the Lord knows your needs before you ask Him...and so, I thought oh yeah that's true so I dont need to pray for coffee, and I did not pray for coffee or anything. His word says, I dont have to!

Me and my friends were all coffee drinkers and that was my thing. I'll make some coffee. Not this time, lol! Things happen. That's life. About 30 minutes later my friend shows up at my door, and the very first thing he did was to hand me a 2 LB sack of coffee beans. I brought you a gift and know you like coffee! My friend did not know I was out of coffee. I did not tell him. I also did not pray for coffee! I was about to but stopped and did not because it says, no problem I already know you're out of coffee (Lol). And I most certainly did not pray nor tell my friend I was out. So what happened there??.....??

By deciding to not pray for money for coffee I was standing on His Word instead that says, God already knows what we need even before we ask him and dont worry about what you will eat or drink or wear. So I was acting in faith on His word. I stood on His word and didnt pray for coffee because it says I dont have to! And it was that acting in faith on His word is the reason God said, Deliver Ed some coffee!

My friend didnt even know that he was running an errand for the Lord! I stood on God's word in faith and God showed me that it is true. That was no coincidence! There is no such thing as a coincidece on this planet, only God Incidences.

That is my all time favorite Testimony (and was the condensed version!). Because think about it, the Almighty Creator of the Universe delivered me Coffee!!!! That sure was nice of the Lord to do that for me. I have tis host mode when company comes over and I was feeling bad that I wouldnt be able to fix my friend a cup of Jo! But as it turned out I did get to play host and fix us some coffee, lol!

The Bible is our Field Manual in this earthly boot camp of the Kingdom of God. The book is our road map to find God. I believe that the very essence of the Lord is in this book in His words. The book is inanimate but when you pick it up and begin reading it, it will touch you in your heart and speak to you. Reading the word is like looking into a mirror! And when you yourself are stirred in your heart...The Holy Spirit will come and begin to talk to you. Listen for Him. But it is you and the Holy Spirit where there is communication that guides you to the Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirits job is to lead you into all truth. So we go, Bible/Holy Spirit/ Jesus/ The Father.

The Word of God was written over a time period of about 2000 years by 40 different authors. It is a very necessary ite for us to have and to study. I like to do my reading first thing in the morning when I'm freshly rested and clear headed.

This allows me to look at my soul and consider it's present condition in the mirror of the Bible. Connect with the Holy Spirit, meditate a bit on scriptures and apply the biblical principles to my life. A good way to start the day.

I cant understand how so many Christians do not read their Bibles and bicker about oh the translators messed up the bible so you cant trust it anymore?? When it is clearly still very able to touch you with what it has and the Lord is there watching and the Holy Spirit will come when you start reading His word.

If you dont have faith to believe in the Bible, then what is it about God that you do believe? Those Christians are going to mighty embarassed on the last day when Jesus says, so...did you read my Book?

Remember that verse that says dont worry about what you will say, the Holy Spirit will give you what to say? (Something like that). do you think if you never read the bible that the Holy Spirit will be able to bring to your rememberance what to say...when you never even read it cover to cover before...!! We have to do our part. We have a very minor role to play which is highly essentiall to Gods plan!

God is the power but we are the data entry clerk. You have to read it cover to cover at least once so it goes into your brain and then the Holy Spirit can bring it to your rememberance! Our other major/minor role to play is dont upon our knees in prayer.

Faith/trust in the bible for what?

That it is the authoritative, reliable word of God, why don't you trust it to be that.

Use the written word as a quality-control check.

I hope you'll pardon me for being a little bit cynical when it comes to claims of "living by the spirit".

But then, I could be wrong. You won't go broke betting on me being wrong about spiritual things.

Your question is easily answered = by the Bible, which is the Holy Scriptures of Truth.

The real question is:

Why are you doubting the Word of God?

This is a very good topic. Of course, one's perception of the Bible has a lot to do with where they are in the maturing process of being a Christian. They acceptance scale of their faith will vary dramatically.

My faith is in God (Yahweh) and His Son (Yeshua). God sent me to someone who eventually got me to church. I am an "investigator" by nature, so I started investigating. The things I discovered would be very frustrating to many, and it was to me as well.

Many years later, and a seminary degree, did not answer all my questions. The bible is a book made of writings that span four thousand years, so it is difficult to understand. Of course, the proof of that is how many translators choose different words and add punctuation that varies our understanding. I delved deep into hermeneutics and purchased other references and software programs to enable myself to see if I could find "truth."

Now, the short version of where I am is "my faith is in God" who created the world we live in. The bible is a pathway to understanding, but not the end-all without knowledge of topics that clarify how to understand what was written. To try to establish truth without that understanding is why we have so many denominations. Those studies are man-centered. There is but one truth, and we must invest our time to diligently seek God's truth. That is what will set us free.

Discovering all this shook up my whole world. It was painful for me then, and it still is to some degree. That part that will seem strange to people is that this discovery has drawn me closer to God and my faith in Him has increased. The bible is a resource, but not the only one.

Your thinking here in this statement:
"The bible is a pathway to understanding, but not the end-all without knowledge of topics that clarify how to understand what was written. To try to establish truth without that understanding is why we have so many denominations."

Is the MAIN reason: "studies are man-centered and why we have so many denominations."

Dwell on that and see if you can understand the pitfall of attempting to find truth BEYOND that which God has given us:
a.) His Word in His Creation = Genesis = Romans 1:18-23
b.) His Word in Truth = John 17:17
c.) His Word became flesh = John 1:14
d.) His Word in Spirit = John 4:1-26
e.) His Word in His Sons = 1 John 3:1-3

Which is greater, the Word, or the God who inspired the Word? Echo of Matthew 23:17-22 from The Word intentional. :Broadly:

(See, I can play both sides of this one.)

I may once again have not been clear.

In order to understand what the bible tells us, we need to understand the change in word meanings. We need to view expressions with a Hebrew mindset. We need to understand the history of the term "covenant." We need to understand things that we common thousands of years ago but misunderstood now. I was NOT referring to "another bible" or another "scripture."

Those other resources help us to find truth IN the bible.
