"And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly." Mark 8:23-25

Where should we be looking other than within ourselves? Is this not where the new heavens and the new earth are or are to be? Is this not where "up" is or where should it be?

"He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." John 7:38

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:" Col 1:27

I suspect the blind man was looking down or that it simply means that he looked around.

As to where we should be looking, it should be at Jesus.
Or consider where Peter's eyes went while walking on water as he stopped looking at Jesus and began to sink..!

Yes I know the reality of that. Sinking in to concrete.
I remember when I was very young and used to operate a cement mixer and pour concrete by hand for a living. My familiarity with the stuff from so many years ago [last about 1974] is now clear in my mind.
