Leaving the 15th verse, Paul said that if you do not have this mind or God hasn't revealed it to me yet, he will. Paul said we should daily live by our knowledge, we have attained and that is what we live by. Of coarse you need to know what to attain and then live by that knowledge. We have been talking about what the believer attains, and Paul said this is how you live. What were we apprehended for? Living Christ. How does that happen? By the mind of Christ. Look at all the verses covered in this chapter, just about everyone of them have to do with the mind. Why is Paul so adamant about the mind? It is the only thing that can change after salvation, you will not change in spirit that change was made by the cross the moment you believed.
Why is the gospel so important to humanity, because it is the only thing that can change you-spirit, soul, and body. What happens with marriages that cannot see past self, most will struggle and end in devastation. The gospel is the only hope for humanity saved or unsaved. You will have trouble enough even when you grow in grace and knowledge, without proper understanding the fight can be endless. If our gospel is an attempt to change the world instead of changing a person, our message has failed the. Taking away drugs, alcohol, guns, and all the debauchery in the world does nothing for an individual. The only thing that will ever help a wayward soul is the gospel of Christ in you the hope of glory, and a mind given to it.
A mind must be given to it or you can still look and act like the world. We must attain the mind, look at Christianity and see if you can see the mind operating. If not! it starts with you and me apprehending what we have been apprehended for, glory to God.
