Hello to you, (as far as i know this is not a banned topic of study.)

The question that is being sought after is who is the Word of God, the Word of Life?

Let's look in the 1 Epistle of John at the first three verses, and see what can be learned.

John writing to the believers in his day in age saying;

1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

One may ask the question, what was from the beginning, which the apostles had heard, and had seen with their eyes, and had looked upon, and that their hands had handled, of the Word of life?

Was it not the fleshly body of the Lord Jesus Christ, that Apostles had traveled around with for the past three years, until his death on the cross, being buried for three days in which some of the Apostles were going to go on back to fishing again (John 21:3-4); until they realized that Jesus had visited to them which they had journeyed back to Jerusalem and stayed with the resurrected Jesus Christ whom God had raised from the dead by the Holy Spirit of God (Romans 6:10-11).

I believe that from the context of scripture, that Jesus spoke spirit and life (John 6:63), so he can be seen as the Word of life.

What does that mean about that which was from the beginning?

In Genesis 1:1 Moses writes the very first verse saying In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 1:3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

You can see here, that when God had created the heavens and the earth; before the earth was even formed, and around it was empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep (perhaps earth was just simply all water), and the Holy Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Then God said, Let there be light, and there was light. So what is interesting about this? Think about this for a moment. When you speak to another person, you speak words to them. These words can be used to create stories, and tell stories about ones life and experience, those words are part of your own individual heart. When God spoke, the Word which came from God created. Did you know that before?

Let's look at another one perspective of John, by going to the Gospel of John and reading a few verses from there.

In the Gospel of John, the writer who spent his life with the apostles and the Lord Jesus Christ for three years, and continued to have faith after his resurrection wrote, in John 1 saying.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

Do you see how in the Beginning with God, was the Word that was with God in which through that word God spoke; God allowed the Word to create what was on the Fathers heart, which of course is always for a function and purpose to look towards the one whom created all things, in which you now obtain access to the Father, through the Word; that became the Lord Jesus Christ.

John writes in John 1:14 saying The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

You can see here that from the beginning, until the moment the the Word has been sent by God, became flesh leaving behind the former residence that was in the beginning now having become a man, a man whom is name is Jesus, but also Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”

In the Gospel of Matthew, you can see here that when Mary would conceive, She would give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means 'God is with us', or 'God with us'.

How can that be if the Word now had became flesh, be called by a second name that means God with us? It was because the Father was able to help the Lord Jesus Christ, by and through the Holy Spirit of God, in which lead to Jesus by the fleshly nature to overcome sin, and temptation from Satan, and to even face the cross denying himself to allow himself to continue to live and decided to die for all of mankind so that all would be able to have access to the Father, by and through the Spirit in the same way now today in which God writes on the hearts and minds of those whom are his (Hebrews 10:16).

Therefore Jesus Christ, was the Word of God, and the Word of God was the soul of Jesus in a sense, which that soul was from God, and that soul always thought about the Fathers will, and the Word of God wouldn't let the Lord Jesus Christ by the flesh be overcome with evil; because that body was going to be a sacrifice for all sins (1 John 2:2).

Lastly, Jesus was the very expressed image of God because of the soul with-in the body of the Lord which was the Word of God who was with God in the beginning.

1Jn 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us

John goes on in his first epistle saying (For the life was manifested and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, was manifested unto us. Speaking of Jesus Christ whom had the words of eternal life (John 6:68).

Philippians 2:
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Paul explains the make up of Christ by the spiritual sense of being the Word of God, God with them, God with us, Immanuel. The Lord Jesus, because of the Word of God, made himself nothing, by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in now human likeness. Being found in the appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross!

Because of these things, and the Love of the Lord Jesus Christ for his Father, and for others. God exalted him to the highest place and give him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Lord to the glory of God the Father.

1Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

John writes onward here in his first epistle in verse 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship with with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Have you come to see, who the Word of God was, and is?

Jesus whom has the words eternal life,

The Words of Eternal Life - John 6:60-71

60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) 65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.” 66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

After Jesus had spoke about eating his flesh and drinking his blood.

After many people heard because Jesus said this in the synagogue.

When many of his disciples heart it, they said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?" - The reason why, because of Jesus speaking saying and talking about eating his flesh and drinking his blood. They did not understand spiritual things as of yet, and they are listening to the Lord not understanding but they would find out what it meant after they received the Holy Spirit from God, which Jesus promised to send to them which would come from the Father.

When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured as this saying, he said unto him, does drinking my blood, and eating my flesh offend you? What does it mean When Jesus does say these things? I personally believe that is partaking in the life and death of Christ, by remembering His life, by reading and learning about Him. Because learning from the Lord today, influence spiritual growth because now today, the Holy Spirit of God, and the Spirit of God dwell with-in believers when they come to the Lord Jesus Christ and have a renewed changed relationship now with God, whom adopts us and becomes our Father.

Jesus goes on to say after asking does this offend you - What and if you shall seen the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth the flesh profits nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus openly explains that he was going to ascend in front of people, back up to the heavens to be with God. By asking the question "What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?".

He goes on to explain that the spirit that quickenth (makes alive) the flesh profits nothing. Jesus here explains that the spirit is something to seek after to ask the Father in heaven to help you by the spirit that is give, that makes a person more alive; having relationship with God. The Flesh itself profits nothing, compared to the spirit.

Then finally, Jesus says here the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.

So the very Word of God from with-in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the words which were spoke from the Father who is Spirit, are words that are spirit, and they are life.

Therefore Jesus goes onward to explain to the surrounding people; by saying But there are some of you that believe not.

For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who should betray him. - The Spiritual discernment of the Messiah.

After saying this, he concluded by saying "Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, expect it were given unto my Father."

Faith comes by hearing and hearing of the word of God, and growing in whom God is, and whom the Father had sent. Only good things come from the Father of the Lights.

From them on many of those who were traveling along with him as learning under him, went back, and walked no more with him.

Part 2 of Post #2,

Joh 6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

Joh 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

With all of this, Jesus said unto the twelve, "Will ye also go away?"

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou has the words of eternal life.

What is eternal life? It is age-during life, that comes to a believer who is born again in Christ becoming a new creature and creation by the spirit in which one becomes adopted into the Family of God, by placing faith and trust in the Father, and in the Son of God whom came, died, and was buried again which is the power of God unto salvation. As this person grows and continues to seek out and learn in faith of what God has to offer by and through the knowledge that has been given from the Bible, they experience newness of life, as they build their trust, and fortify their faith in the one whom has shown Mercy on the world, by and through the Lord Jesus Christ. What comes is a good relationship with praying for others, and forgiving others, and to ask the Father to help you in your life by the spirit. (Luke 11:13)

Thank you for sharing, Robert.

It's a joy to be able to spend time and read the Bible, friend.

Matthew chapter 1 - New King James Version

The book of the genealogy[a] of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:

2 Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers. 3 Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. 4 Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. 5 Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, 6 and Jesse begot David the king.

David the king begot Solomon by her [b]who had been the wife of Uriah. 7 Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot [c]Asa. 8 Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah. 9 Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. 10 Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot [d]Amon, and Amon begot Josiah. 11 Josiah begot [e]Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon.

12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel. 13 Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor. 14 Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud. 15 Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob. 16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

Christ Born of Mary
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:

23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife,

25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

An interesting thing that people may not know is that when the Lord Yeshua, the Word of God sent whom was born of Mary, made flesh of the bloodline of Jospeh, and the line that was promised to come form the David, and offshoot of Jesse, which was born and begotten by the Holy Spirit by a miracle.

That after having lived his life, having love for God, even sternly warning those whom were in idolatry and hypocritical there day in age with-in Jerusalem ( Matthew 23,24,25,26; Luke 11:37-54, Mark 12:35-40, Luke 20:45-47 ) and the surrounding Jewish areas. Some desired to love and seek after Jesus, and died for this cause; after his death, burial and resurrection. The people whom seen Jesus in his time period, did not find him (Isaiah 53:2) attractive, nor worthy of admonishment really. They mocked and laughed (Matthew 27:39-41), and envied him ( John 15:25) to the point of death on the cross. Of course the Holy Spirit of God rose him up again from the dead (Romans 8:11), and he was witnessed (Acts 1:9; 1 Corinthians 15:6) by 500 people to have arose into the sky and disappeared.

This is the point here, is that When Jesus was taking on the worlds sins (John 19, Luke 23, Mark 15, Matthew 27), with people realizing whom he was at that the time, with the earthquake, with the crying out, the Lord Yeshua Christ, whom was the Word of God, sent and made flesh named Jesus (John 1:1-3,14; Matthew 1:1-27) cried out and gave up the spirit that had given him life, and where did Jesus/ or the Word of God with-in the Lord Yeshua go?

Jesus/ the Word went where everyone went when they had died by the Old Testament law, do you remember when the thief on the cross asked the Lord to remember him ? (Luke 23:42-43). That very same day, both the Lord Jesus Christ, died and the thief died sometime that day as well, assuringly, it was rare any survived the brutality of the Roman Cross, and live to tell about it. The Word of God/ Yeshua and the Thief were in Paradise after leaving this realm, which is where believers went to called Abrahams bosoms (Luke 16:22), Paradise (Acts 2:31-32;1 Peter 3:18-20, Luke 23:43; Philippians 1:21-23, 2 Corinthians 5-8) Jesus also perfected the spirits of the Old Testament believers (Hebrews 12:23;11:40; Psalms 88:3-6,10-12); there was also a prison side as well, which the Rich man found himself in, this story is telling of the separation between those who believe and how they receive comfort spiritually in the life; where as those who just focus on this life (Romans 15:4), are actually not comforted at all, as the world as their focus (James 4:1-4), rather then action to seek after in faith for God; which leads to a life renewed of the mind by spending time to read and learn about the Bible, asking for things of the spirit (Galatians 5:21-23).

The purpose this accomplished by the death of the Son of God, was reconciliation to the Father (2 Corinthians 5:19) because of the sin payment that the Lord Yeshua had taken for the life of others (1 Peter 3:18, Hebrews 10:1-18), and allowing his body to become sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) on the behalf of all peoples which now today, people make the choice to either believe in or not believe in this death and resurrection. It most certainly is a personal decision of yourself if you will actively seek a relationship with God or not because no one can do it for you; it's will participation on our own use of time, so be encouraged.

Therefore with all this, to conclude, the Death of Christ (Romans 6:3-11), is the response that as believers have to themselves by deciding each and every day if they will personally pick up their own cross or not (Matthew 16:24), may God give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6-8), because all believers, are to die with Christ, be buried with him, (which symbolizes dying to the old self), and being raised again to newness of spiritual life living unto God, and to Christ if one desires to do so. (Romans 13:1-14; Romans 6:11)

God bless.

Hello to you,

The question that is being sought after is who is the Word of God, the Word of Life?

Let's look in the 1 Epistle of John at the first three verses, and see what can be learned.

John writing to the believers in his day in age saying;

You can see here that from the beginning, until the moment the the Word has been sent by God, became flesh leaving behind the former residence that was in the beginning now having become a man, a man whom is name is Jesus, but also Immanuel.

John goes on in his first epistle saying (For the life was manifested and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, was manifested unto us. Speaking of Jesus Christ whom had the words of eternal life (John 6:68).

John writes onward here in his first epistle in verse 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship with with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
You left out the most important part of John 1:1

the Word was God

John writes onward here in his first epistle in verse 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship with with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
John 12:48 "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word ( logos ) I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

Jesus spoke the Logos, He is not the Logos!

1Jn 1:1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life-- 2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us--

What does scripture teach you about... What was from the beginning?

Pay attention as we need to get a little deeper comparing both John 1:1 with 1 John 1:1

John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word." 1 John 1:1"What was from the beginning, what we have heard."

Notice that in John what is from the beginning is the word, and in 1 John what is from the beginning is something that they heard (a message) .

Look closely...

1 John 2:7 - "Beloved, I am writing no new commandment to you but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard."

In 1 John 1:1 what was from the beginning is something that they heard, here in 1 John 2:7 the old commandment is what they have had from the beginning, (sound familiar?) and the old commandment is the "WORD" that they what? Heard! The same as in 1 John 1:1.

So, What commandment is John speaking about?

John is speaking about what Jesus called the greatest commandment, ( Mark 12:29-30 ) the commandment of love which God gave the Hebrews from the beginning. The message of love that the proclamation of the Kingdom of God brings with it.

How do we know for sure that this is the message and/or the commandment that they heard from the beginning? Because John tells you so in 1 John 3:11 and 1 John 3:23:

"For this is the message you have HEARD from the BEGINNING: we should love one another."

"And his commandment is this: we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another."

Loving one another is how the world will know that we are followers of God’s Christ.

John 13:30"This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

According to Paul (Romans 13:9), the law of love is the fulfillment of the Mosaic Law and it is the Law in the coming Kingdom of God which the Messiah has come to proclaim. These are Jesus’ own words.

John is talking about the message or Logos (known by you as “word”!)

Hope this helps

Important message and revealing to who Jesus is.
So..True!

Yet....
1Co 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed"; and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

So... What's logos got to do with it....

Think about it....

Very insightful and useful lesson in learning about who was the Word of God, who was the Word of life? #1 <- Click here to visit the first post.

Also @Pierac - I do not mind however you believe but for myself - I dont exactly see the same thing you may. What I see is the Word of God - being the living Word that God had spoke in the beginning, which is the soul that resides in the body of flesh that is named Jesus.

I have no Idea what your taking about?

But let's review the Spirit of Jesus..... NOW.... this is going to get DEEP.... Deep in Spiritual Understanding....very deep indeed!!!

Pay attention....

(Ecc 12:7) and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit (Breath rûaḥ) returns to God who gave it.

(Psa 146:4) His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.

Other verses are…

(Gen 2:7) The Spirit is the breath of life

(Job 7:21) "Why then do You not pardon my transgression And take away my iniquity? For now I will lie down in the dust; And You will seek me, but I will not be."

(Psa 104:29) You hide Your face, they are dismayed; You take away their spirit, they expire And return to their dust. 30 You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground.

Spirit - The word spirit usually brings to mind to most a ghostly image that separates from our bodies at death and departs to either heaven or hell. This definition which most of us are so familiar with is 100% Greek philosophy. It is pure Platonism. To Greek philosophers the words "spirit" and "soul" are interchangeable, they mean the same thing. To a Jew they are vastly different.

Platonism - Believed that we must be capable of existing apart from our bodies. The flesh is evil. The body is a prison. It is bad for the soul (i.e. spirit) to be in the body. Platonism suggests the immortality of the soul, and the soul then becoming incarnate (Grolier’s Encyclopedia (GE)).

This definition of "spirit" if used, will completely change the meanings of many passages in the Bible, and lead to false conclusions. It has inherent problems right away. First, only God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:15-16). Second, I do not know of anyone that would dispute that judgment happens at the return of Christ. So how then can your spirit or soul go to heaven or hell at death if you have not yet been judged? This should be a clue that something is wrong with this definition of "spirit."

Let us now examine what "spirit" means to a Jew. The word "spirit" in Hebrew is "ruah" and in Greek it is "pneuma." The Jews used ruah in the same way that they used pneuma.

"Unlike the Greeks, who found dissolution of the body desirable (cf Socrates), Paul has a Jewish horror of it" (Roman Catholic New American Bible (NAB)).

Spirit - (ruah & pneuma) - Breath of life. The vital principal by which the body is animated (Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words (VED)).

In other words, it is the life force that God gives to people and animals that animates their bodies, which gives them life. When He takes it away their “spirit” they die.

Examples:

Psalms 104:29 -30: "When you take away their breath (ruah), they perish and return to the dust from which they came. When you send forth your breath (ruah), they are created."

Ecclesiates 12:7: "And the dust returns to the earth as it once was, and the life breath (ruah) returns to God who gave it."

Psalms 33:6: "When his spirit (ruah) departs he returns to his earth; on that day his plans perish."

This understanding is critical when one interprets a verse such as Luke 23:46:

"Father, into your hands I commend my spirit;" and when he said this he breathed his last.

If you use the Greek philosophical definition as most people do, you will arrive at the conclusion that at that moment Jesus’ Greek type spirit went to heaven to be with God. This of course is not possible because in John 20:17 when Jesus was raised from the dead after three days, he appeared to Mary of Magdala and told her:

"Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father."

Jesus is clear that he has not yet been to the Father. Where has he been for three days? He has been in Sheol, the pit, the grave, the earth. Jesus himself tells us in John 12:32:

"And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself."

Jesus has been dead as Scripture says of him. On the third day God resurrected him. Also, if your spirit is in heaven you are not truly dead.

Yet, if we use the Jewish definition of spirit it will make perfect sense. Jesus’ breath of life returned to the Father and he died and was in the earth for three days. There is then no conflict with John 20:17.

So the best observation comes from Jesus Himself, at His death He teaches…

(Luke 23:46) And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT." Having said this, He breathed His last.
Read again what Jesus said… Jesus gave up his Spirit but not His Soul as the Westminster Confession teaches. An example that supports this is when Mary at Jesus’ tomb turned and saw Jesus. She naturally got excited and Jesus told her… John 20:17 … Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my father.

Do not miss this connection, Jesus gave up his Spirit to the Father at death but told Mary He had not yet ascended to the Father after His resurrection.

It is clear the scriptures never teach that the soul is or has an immortal subsistence. As both Jesus’ body and soul died and went to hades! Just as Ecclesiates 12:7 teaches... Ecc 12:7 And the soil returns to the earth just as it was, And the spirit, it returns to the One, Elohim, Who gave it."

You need to understand John 1:1 as it was intended....
In the New Testament, “the Word” (Logos) happens to be of the masculine gender. Therefore, it's pronoun -"he" in our English translations - is a matter of interpretation, not translation. Did John write concerning “the word” that “he” was in the beginning with God or did he write concerning “the word” that “it” was in the beginning with God? As already stated, in the NT Greek the logos or word is masculine noun. It is okay in English to use “he” to refer back to his masculine noun if there is good contextual reason to do so. But is there good reason to make “the word” a “he” here?

It is a fact that all English translations from the Greek before the King James version of 1611 actually read this way: (notice Him and He are now “It”).

Tyndale 1534:
Joh 1:1 In the beginnynge was the worde and the worde was with God: and the worde was God. 2 The same was in the beginnynge with God. 3 All thinges were made by it and with out it was made nothinge that was made. 4 In it was lyfe and the lyfe was ye lyght of men

Cranmer 1539
John 1:1 IN the begynnynge was the worde and the worde was wyth God: and God was the worde. 2 The same was in the begynnyng with God. 3 All thynges were made by it and without it, was made nothynge that was made. 4 In it was lyfe and the lyfe was the lyght of men

Bishops 1568:
Joh 1:1 In the begynnyng was the worde, & the worde was with God: and that worde was God. 2 The same was in the begynnyng with God. 3 All thynges were made by it: and without it, was made nothyng that was made. 4 In it was lyfe, and the lyfe was the lyght of men,

Geneva 1587:
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was that Word, and that Word was with God, and that Word was God. 2 This same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by it, and without it was made nothing that was made. 4 In it was life, and that life was the light of men.

And now our modern Concordant Literal Version:
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the word, and the word was toward God, and God was the word. " 2 This was in the beginning toward God. 3 All came into being through it, and apart from it not even one thing came into being which has come into being." 4 In it was life, and the life was the light of men."

The word logos appears many, many more times in this very Gospel of John. And nowhere else do the translators capitalize it or use the masculine personal pronoun "he" to agree with it ! The rest of the New Testament is the same. Logos is variously translated as "statement"
(Luke 20:20), “question" (Matt 21:24), "preaching" (1 Tim 5:17), "command" (Gal 5:14), "message" (Luke 4:32), "matter" (Acts 15:6), "reason" (Acts 10:29), so there is actually no reason to make John one say that "the Word" is the person Jesus himself, unless of course the translators are wanting to make a point to. In all cases logos is an “it.”

In the light of this background it is far better to read John's prologue to mean that in the beginning God had a plan, a dream, a grand vision for the world, a reason by which He brought all things into being. This word or plan was expressive of who he is.

"The Word" for John is an “it” not a "he." On one occasion, Jesus is given the name "the word of God" and this is in Revelations 19:13. This name has been given to him after his resurrection and ascension, but we will not find it before his birth. It is not until we come to verse 14 of John's prologue that this logos becomes personal and becomes the son of God, Jesus. "And the Word became flesh." A great plan that God had in his heart from before the creation at last is fulfilled. Be very clear that it does not say that God became flesh.

There is even strong evidence suggesting that John himself reacted to those who were already misusing his gospel to mean that Jesus was himself the Word who had personally preexist the world. When later he wrote his introduction to 1 John, he clearly made the point that what was in the beginning was not a “who” he put it this way: "What was from the beginning, what we have

heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and our hands handled, concerning the word of life…"

Logos - This word is translated in English as "Word". This word has an actual meaning which has been almost completely lost due to the Greek philosophical interpretation of John 1:1-3 & 14.

who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. (Rev 1:2)

"I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word (logos) of God." (Rev 20:4)

Notice that they were beheaded for their testimony to Jesus AND for the logos (word) of God.

Jesus and the word of God are not the same thing.

John 12:48
"He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one (God) who judges him; the word ( logos ) I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

Again… Jesus spoke the Logos, as He is not the Logos! So who is the Logos? The very next verse tell us!

Joh 12:49 "For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.

Jesus is not our Judge, but our savior!

Joh 3:17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Act 17:30 "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He ( God) has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."

Word of God in this verse means God's plan of salvation for us (NAB), i.e. the kingdom of God message. So what does "logos" mean?

Logos - 1. Denotes an internal reasoning process, plan, or intention, as well as an external word. 2. The expression of thought. As embodying a conception or idea (New American Bible (footnote) & Vine’s Expository Dictionary).

According to Liddell and Scott Greek Lexicon, it also means:

Logos - the inward thought which is expressed in the spoken word.

I will give you a brief paraphrase of John 1:1-3 using the definitions for "logos:"

"In the beginning was God's plan, will, or idea for our salvation. It was present in his mind, and God's plan or will possessed all the attributes of God."

The very Trinitarian Roman Catholic New American Bible has this comment on this verse:

"Lack of a definite article with "God" in Greek signifies predication rather than identification."

Predication -
to affirm as a quality or attribute (Webster's Dictionary).

So how does the Word (logos) become flesh in John 1:14? Let me use an example which most of us can relate to. We are all familiar with the expression, "was this baby planned?" Let's say it was planned. You and your wife had a plan to have a baby. You had a logos, a plan. Your plan (logos) became flesh the day that your baby was born. In the same way, God's plan of salvation for us became a reality, became flesh, when Jesus was born. This verse is probably one of the biggest culprits in the creation of the trinity. The reason being that to someone educated in Greek philosophy such as the early church fathers of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, centuries, logos had an entirely different meaning. Tertullian who was responsible for much of the creation of the trinity was a Stoic lawyer. The Stoics defined "logos" as the "divine principle of life." Which is basically a definition of God. With this definition you are going to arrive at a completely different interpretation than what John intended. You will interpret it something like this:

"In the beginning was the divine principle of life, and the divine principle of life was with God, and the divine principle of life was God. Then, the divine principle of life became flesh."

With this definition you arrive at the conclusion that the divine principle of life, which is God, became flesh. Now you have God's essence in two places at once. The explanation for this obvious problem came in the form of the Doctrine of the Trinity. Then you have God's essence in flesh, so the description of Jesus becomes that he is fully God and fully man. These concepts come straight out of Greek philosophy. Greek philosophers believed that man was composed of flesh and a divine spark.

From my understanding

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:3,

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:1-3

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our[a] joy complete. 1 John 1:1-4

With this...

You can see that the Word of God that was sent, was the Word of God that was with God in the beginning before coming into the flesh and born of the holy spirit.
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35,

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). - Matthew 1:23

How can God be with them? Because the Word of God - was the Soul with-in the Flesh named Jesus.

Just like you have a name for your soul - that is with-in your flesh.
Or my name is Matthew - that is the name for my soul - and it is with-in my flesh.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27

Colossians 1:15+16 “He is the image of the invisible God, the first born of all creatures. In him everything in heaven and on earth was created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominations, principalities or powers; all were created through him and for him….”

So I get everything from the scripture @Pierac, you dont have to accept it, this has been my own study and what I understand and that doesn't mean I am trying to force it on you. Simply sharing what I have learned from doing my own study, its doubtful I will move away from this understanding.

John 12:48 "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word ( logos ) I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

Jesus spoke the Logos, He is not the Logos!
It's an important distinction Pierac!
These words are addressed at the Pharisees who believed (See verse 42), but did nothing about it! They are the living examples of "enlightened rejecters". Meaning they will be responsible for resurrection and judgement which comprised 5 out of the 6 occurrences of the "last day" referred to in John.
We can miss the warnings of verses like this wasting our time with those who only want to label Jesus as _ _ _!
