The “false Jesus everyone loves” is not the Jesus of the Bible. He’s a counterfeit created by culture, false religion, and soft preaching. He doesn't confront sin, doesn’t preach repentance, and never talks about hell. He’s portrayed as accepting everyone exactly as they are, without expecting them to change. This false Jesus is more like a therapist or a mascot for personal happiness than the Lord of glory.

But the real Jesus said hard things. He called sinners to repent (Luke 13:3), warned about judgment (Matthew 7:21, 23), flipped tables in the temple (John 2:15), and declared that following Him means dying to yourself (Luke 9:23). He said the world would hate His followers, not applaud them (John 15:18, 19).

This fake Jesus is popular because he doesn't demand holiness, obedience, or truth. He makes people feel spiritual without confronting their rebellion. That’s why the world loves him. But the real Jesus divides truth from lies, sheep from goats, and light from darkness (Matthew 10:34–39).

Paul warned about “another Jesus” in 2 Corinthians 11:4, and that’s exactly what this is, a false version stripped of truth, power, and judgment. If your “Jesus” never offends the world, you’re probably following the wrong one. The real Jesus saves sinners, but He does it on His terms, not ours.

Hello @bdavidc,

I have not listened to the video clip you have provided, and am not acquainted with what is preached in the world, for I have not attended a place of worship for a very long time, and have very little communication with other believers. Yet I do know that we are warned of those who preach 'another Jesus', and 'another gospel', that is not the gospel of the grace of God. How are we to identify this counterfeit doctrine?

* How important it is to, 'Let the word of Christ dwell in you (us) richly in all wisdom'(Col.3:16 ), for only an acquaintance with God's word will open our eyes to distinguish what is true and what is false. But, first of all, before looking at the 'mote' in someone else's eye (Matt. 7:3-5), we should make absolutely sure that there is not a 'plank' in our own: restricting our vision, and distorting our conception of the Lord Jesus Christ, His person and His work. Have we, 'renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully: but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to everyman's conscience in the sight of God.' (2 Cor. 4:2)?

You’re absolutely right to emphasize the danger of “another Jesus” and “another gospel.” Paul directly warned about this in 2 Corinthians 11:4, where he rebuked the Corinthians for being too quick to tolerate false teachers who preached a different Jesus, a different spirit, and a different gospel. The only way to recognize the counterfeit is to be deeply grounded in the truth, which is the Word of God. As you quoted, Colossians 3:16 says to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, that means reading it, meditating on it, and obeying it. We are told to “test the spirits” (1 John 4:1), and to search the Scriptures daily, like the Bereans, to see whether things are true (Acts 17:11). This testing begins with ourselves. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:3–5 about hypocrisy, trying to correct others while our own life is clouded with sin or pride. So yes, before calling out error, we must examine ourselves in the light of God’s Word, make sure our doctrine and motives are pure, and ensure we are not twisting Scripture to fit our preferences. The standard is never personal opinion, tradition, or emotional experience, it is the Word of God rightly divided (2 Timothy 2:15), with nothing added or taken away (Deuteronomy 4:2, Revelation 22:18–19). Only then will we be able to expose error and stand firm in the truth of Christ and His gospel of grace.

amen. and the other side of that is those who use a set of man made rules to acquire a holiness of their own making. which always leads to self-righteousness.
If you are born anew the Spirit in you leads you, not man. If you are not born anew you are not a believer. There is only one way. God works in us. It is all God.
